Which Hard Tonneau Cover for 2012 Silverado Crew Cab Xshort Box

Snugtop RL/SL, Leer 550/700 or Undercover SE. Which one and why???

Likes or dislikes. No dealers in my area carry one to fit my 2012 Silverado Crew Cab Xshort box. The undercovers are usually 1-2 days and the Snugtop and Leer are 2-4 weeks order time. If you've got one installed please post pix in this thread.

Friend MindCrime,

I LOVE the Line-X cover. http://www.linexcover.com/content/buy-it-now

It's made by Diamondback and the quality/price is amazing.

No leaks, no issues, no problems at all.

I would purchase the Line-X again. Or, I might buy a Diamondback with all the options ... this is a very tough/fantastic tonneau and you get an amazing amount of qaulity for your money.

Leer is made locally here and it's shit, just total shit. ARE strikes me as really GREAT quality. I had a Snugtop canopy on a 2002 - ¾-ton Avalanche and it was an amazing product. Consicering all that, the Line-X tonneau gives you a lot of value for your money.

God Bless You,

Steve

Fold-A-Cover G4 elite. I swear by it and would buy another if I had to...

Does not leak, It locks securely, semi low profile, and you can open the top at the front of the bed if you keep a storage box up there...

undercover all the way for a full hard cover, you can get the lux painted to match the truck within 1-2 business days. easy to remove, great customer service, easy to install, all in all a great cover. i personally have never been a fan of any FOLD A COVER brand covers. we sold them in the past, their customer service was horrible. many issues with the covers, many many unhappy customers. threw the display and all literature in the dumpster and refuse to sell it ever again. if you want a folding cover undercover also now offers their flex cover which will fold up.

Love my Extang Solid Fold.

Easy on/Easy off, no rails to install, no drilling. I did get a litlte bit of water, I mean very little streaks which I think came in thru the tail gate sides. And it's not quite as in your face as the line X, but if that's what your looking for then that's up to you.

Do you want a folding cover or a solid one piece cover? The one piece covers look good but it can be a pain to retrieve stuff from the bed. If you go with a folding cover take a long look at the latches. My first cover had plastic latches and all the security of a cardboard box in a wind storm. My present folding cover has good solid latches that keep it closed. It is a Fold-a-Cover. It will open on both ends so it is easy to retrieve stuff from the bed.

well maybe it is just you... I called them with an issue I had when I first bought it (Installer F UP i.e. me) and they were very helpful and shipped me some new parts on thier dime. The customer service was based in US, they spoke english as thier first language, and they knew what they were talking about, what more can you ask?

For me I'll take the Retrax! I use my truck to pull gooseneck trailers alot and there is no way I could have used a regular hard cover. At times I need to keep things out of sight so I needed something, this last week I hauled some teaching supplies for the wife and after I dropped them off I went and picked up a trailer without having to go home to leave the bed cover, so I love mine set up the way that it is. :jester:

+1 on the Line-X. I convinced Steve 2010 "LTZ Z71" to purchase his. I liked it so well that not only did I install one on my 09 CC, but on my 12 CC as well. The thing I liked about it over some of the other folding covers is it covers the bed rail so there is no need for bed drains and I can stand on top of it when I need to. The plus over the Undercover is you can take sections off in seconds and the entire cover comes off with removing 4 camper clamps.

I will agree with Gnet158 that I am not wild about the big "Line-X" on the back, but with the height, you gain about 2" of extra bed depth over the other folding covers.

Completely agree! Here is my thread about it: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=122051&hl=retrax
