engine coolant temp gage not working after replaceing thermostat

It was was working went up to 100 everything seemed fine. Looked down on the high way and it was all the way down .

Where is the coolant temp sensor on a 4.3l ?

I am going to try to disconnect the battery for 45 mins and see if it works . A other guy tried that and it solved his problem . I would still like to know where this sensor is tho and why all of a sudden it does not work now after changing the thermostat.

Where is the coolant temp sensor on a 4.3l ? Look near 1st spark plug, on driver's side of the engine

The temp gage works for alittle bit then goes right down to nothing

bottom rad hoses are cold , the top ones into the fire wall are hot and the top rad hoses is hot .

For some reason it started working again . Dont know why but it worked all day . What are your guys thoughts

If there was an air pocket in the area of the sensor it could definitely cause this.
