engine coolant temp gage not working after replaceing thermostat

It was was working went up to 100 everything seemed fine. Looked down on the high way and it was all the way down .

I am going to try to disconnect the battery for 45 mins and see if it works . A other guy tried that and it solved his problem . I would still like to know where this sensor is tho and why all of a sudden it does not work now after changing the thermostat.

could air in the system cause this ?

Where is the coolant temp sensor on a 4.3l ? Look near 1st spark plug, on driver's side of the engine

For some reason it started working again . Dont know why but it worked all day . What are your guys thoughts
