4 low not engaging

Take the shift motor off of the T-Case and see if you can engage it manually. That will narrow down what kind of problem it is (electrical or mechanical)

 

BTW what T-Case do you have?

i dont know right off, its an 06 sierra 5.3 v8 g80 3.42

 

i know it should be coasting a bit to engage i just find it weird that it wouldnt do it sitting youd think it would, ill try coasting in neutral and see what it does, i was sitting still when i tried in neutral tonight

My old truck would not go in 4lo if i was stopped. It had to be rolling very slow for it to pop in. And from what I remember when it did go in it made very loud solid clunk noise and then when it came out, it also banged very hard.

The shift fork is spring loaded since the spline might not line up perfectly when it tries to shift. As you roll forward it will keep pressure on the sun gear until the spline lines up and it will snap into place.
