How many problems will I run into when changing transmission filter?

I am planning on dropping the transmission pan to change the filter. The truck is an 04 Sierra z71 4x4 5.3L with a standard cab, transmission is the 4L60E. Am I going to have to disconnect the exhaust pipes or the drive shaft??? Also how do I tell what filter I need? Deep or shallow?

I would get the filter from rock auto or gmpartsdirect.com. Both take your VIN to make sure you get the right parts. I am switching out all of my fluids to Amsoil in the spring. I have a 2010 with a 6.2L and I also am wondering what problems I might run into.

Procedure

 

The pan pictured in the link is a deep pan. Shallow pan is flat. Deep has the drop step. 99.9% you have the deep pan
