To Chrome or not to Chrome, 2013 Black Silverado Crew Cab, Aesthetic q

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

So I've had my 2013 black crew cab silverado for a couple months now. I got the chrome package as I negotiated it in and thought it looked cool. Now, I'm not so sure. Particularly from the front and to the side, the chrome bumper seems to make the bumper and "face" of the truck look too big and out of proportion.

Then the more I look at it, the mirrors look sort of stupid how they are half-chromed. And while I'm at it, the handles too. When I search google images for Black 2013 Chevy Silverado, I see some all black ones and I think they look better. I was thinking of changing it to all black, but leaving the tailpipe tip.

So what do you think? All chrome? Some chrome or no chrome? A few images attached.

I like body color mirrors and door handles,I don't like the chrome ones,so I would change them over to Black, but I like the chrome bumpers and grille.

the front end looks good to me,but i'm not a fan of chrome mirrors or handles, so I would change that. With that being said do what you think you will like. You have to live with it in the end, not us.

I like chrome bumpers and wheels. I don't like chrome door handles and mirror caps

Less chrome, or monochromatic, makes for a more custom or rare appearance. Around here, a chrome-clad truck is like a belly-button. There's nothing overly special to look at because they all basically look similar. That's the main reason I chose the monochrome look. In my opinion, black is drop-dead gorgeous. I wouldn't have the time to keep it looking clean, but when one can, it's a damn nice look.

I like them either way. The only reason I didn't get color matched is because of the cinders in the winter time leaving more noticeable rock chips. I would definitely get rid of the chrome mirror caps and handles though. I would like to get rid of the silver lower valance on mine, and go to the textured black, but I also want to do the HD front clip eventually so I don't know if there's much point in me doing that, but it would look good on your truck.

The problem with a painted front end..........rock chips.

I'd leave your truck alone, looks good as is.

That looks really good. How well does the plastidip hold up on the front of the truck?

I might try that on my grille, the texture looks similar to my bumper replacement.

thanks. it's held up surprisingly well over winter too. not chipped or peeling anywhere. several thick coats of plastidip, onyx black, then clear. made it a bit blacker than just plastidip by itself.
