Sierra rear bumper dent :(

Recommended Posts

I was giving my truck a good wash over the weekend and noticed a small and hardly noticeable dent on my rear bumper. Never noticed the damn thing because the bumper was always filthy. With summer coming soon, and how clean I keep my truck during the warmer months I'd like to get this fixed.

Cheapest place to buy a new bumper? Do i have to buy a whole new bumper or just that chrome section?

Picture attached to show dent;

Thanks for any help

It is 3 pcs. As others have said I would tey to pop it out, cant really make it worse. Hit a local junkyard and get replacement. Or put a sticker over it

You would really buy a whole new bumper because of that one little dent? I say just leave it

Yeah.... I would.

A dented bumper on a GMT900? No way!

In reality, they dent if you sneeze on them too hard.

Thats how it happened. I was walking towards my truck from the rear and coughed.

Local junkyards have nothing. Only bumpers without the backup sensors, and even then, they are in less that ideal shape and will only sell you the entire bumper.

Three pc's is a good thing, I found a replacement on ebay for $70 but wont ship to Canada. I'll take off the bumper when the weather warms up more and try hammering it out. If that doesn't work I'll try to find a replacement elsewhere.

Thanks

You can just buy that chrome section, its not hard to replace yourself. Gmpartsdirect.com has the exploded bumper view, 162$ for just that chrome end piece. A lot better then just a whole new bumper.

yea, as others already said, take that section off and try to pop it out first.

Edit.. pretty sure there is someone selling the a pair of the chrome pieces in the for sale section. check it out.. prolly cheaper than buying new.

You can try removing the dented section, then placing it on a flat piece of wood and then use a heavy perfectly round metal socket (something large like 3 inch) and roll it back and forth in the damaged area.

I looked at mine sideways and it dented. Seriously, bought one from 'carpartswholesale' on Ebay for $57.00, they shipped free to Canada. Had it on all winter and it hasn't started to rust yet. Same heft to it as the original, though it did not fit quite right at the corner, but enless you know to look it's not noticable. Secured it with stainless nuts, bolts and lock washers as I did not have a large enough rivet gun.

Bought a set in primer, will paint to match this spring. If you can't get that one shipped I'll work something out with you for mine after the swap.
