Wood Accents

Has anyone seen a 2014 that doesn't have the Mineral Caster Wood accents as standard?

I'm not a fan of wood trim and am curious if GM will offer aluminum for the doors & center console.. or maybe the only choices will be Mineral Caster v/s Grand Lace, with Aluminum reserved only for the dash.

my understanding is the All Terrain trucks have the aluminum / or carbon fiber look. I know the one I ordered is not wood. Not sure if you get that in any other trim level ??

The Z71 Ltz silverado has the aluminum carbon fiber look also. Im not sure about the LT Z71 though.

Yeah, I've seen the carbon fiber in AT's. I'm looking for regular brushed aluminum to replace my door/console panels.

I really don't know. Even if you could find them (OEM)... I doubt you could actually get your hands on them right now. Seems like all the GM suppliers are are short on parts trying to keep up with new builds. ..

No shortage of fake wood as GM had a bunch left over from the 1974 station wagon run that did not sell as well as planned. Fake wood was sooooo 1973.

so its only GM that uses fake wood?

i have been in quite a few lower end BMW's and MB's that have fake wood. off the top of my head my buddies 06 325i has fake wood all over center console and dash

I tried to order the Grand Lace specifically and I was told that there was no way for them to specify and I would get whatever was in the box when my truck rolled down the assembly line...

I so despise plastic wood trim. They go to the trouble of using real aluminium trim on the dash but then tack on a few extra strips of that crud. It's like they just couldn't bring themselves to cut the last remnants to the 1970s.

Who is it at GM design who thinks customers still want that junk in 2013??

Wood trim is nice as long as it is REAL wood, not fake wood. Take a look inside a new $ 400k Rolls Royce and tell me it does not look good.

I don't mind wood, fake wood does suck but it would be nice if GM or any aftermarket company offered real wood replacement panels. I'd buy them.

Why have real wood? Far from perfection and figment would be difficult to replicate. A veneer might peel over time . I'm cool with the plastic wood, and even prefer the would to the aluminum look. Maybe add some grain texture to it if anything.
