MPG and lift & tires

Recommended Posts

I would like to do a 2" lift and run some AT tires stock size to slightly larger then stock how much of a mpg loss do you think I'm looking at? I've read 2% loss for every 1" increases in height. I think just going away from the stock, low rolling resistance tire could really drop the mpg's alone.

Anyone have any good suggestions on a lighter weight AT tire? I ran the Dura Trac's on my 04, not a AT but a good tire just thinking its going to be to heavy to still get good mileage. It would suck to put a tire on the doesn't let it go into V4 very often.

The weight matters, but probably not to the extent that increasing your rolling resistance (width of tire) and altering the aerodynamics (height of truck) do.
