LIVE POST: 2014 Corvette Stingray First Drive

The day has arrived. We are excited to be among the first non-GM persons to drive the next generation Chevrolet Corvette Stingray...aka the C7.

Getting a quick overview from the C7 chief engineer

• Designed to be similar in size and weight of a Porsche 911

 

• Built like an aircraft..bonded aluminum

 

• Frame is 100lbs lighter

 

• 57% stiffer than prior gen

 

• Carbon fiber is standard

 

• Z51 package includes rear inlets for trans/diff cooler

 

• The car is aware of tire temp and adjusts for it

• 1/4 mile in 12 seconds at 119

 

• 1.03g cornering

 

• 60-0 in 107 feet

 

• 460 horsepower and 29mpg!

Been behind the wheel and thoroughly impressed.

• eLimited slip differential is amazing and helps give confidence in corners
• The new engine is super smooth but sounds exotic at full throttle
• interior is much improved and reminds me of 4th gen Corvettes

Yes. It even shows tires as cold, warm, or hot in the driver info center.
