What is keeping you from buying a 2014 right now?

As a long time GM truck owner ( 8 new GM pickups in 20 years) I have been waiting for the new 2014's since I picked up my 2010 Silverado. After following all of the rumors for three years I am not as excited about the new trucks as I was for the 2007 NBS. I do like the new design, but the body change was just not as much as I expected. The detail improvements did address alot of issues which shows GM is listening to the truck buyers. After some thought I will most likely forego the 2014 and may consider a 2015 for the following reasons:

The main reason is the 6.2L availability. I will not order without driving first so that would put me in a 6.2 in early 2015. Or I order in early May and get a 2015 in July or August for the same money.

Is the 8 speed coming in 2015? If the difference in the 6 to 8 speed is the same as the difference was between the 4 and 6 speed I do not want to make the early purchase. I thing GM missed the boat on not offering the 8 speed at least on the High Country or Denali in 2014.

I am still waiting on payload numbers for the max tow package. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask that I can put a dirt bike or ATV in the box of a crew cab, pull a 28 foot rv and take my family of 4 camping. The 2014 looks to be the same weight as the old trucks, not the 300lbs less that was anticipated.

My truck is also a daily driver so the HD is not an option. It won't fit where I park.

The only thing preventing me from purchasing my 2014 is the train that is delivering it next week..... I wish it would hurry up.

I don't think the exterior styling (small changes) is what is really drawing the buyers. I believe it's more about the new interior and overall refinements in the engine / drivetrain.

As for you ... you can look at it a few ways. The current 2014 5.3 has a much power has your 2010 6.2 ? is your current 6.2 good enough? If so.. the new 5.3 should be fine for you.

But on the flip side.. the new 6.2 coming will be a beast. So.. the question is can you holdout?

For me.. no... my current truck is old, have to get a new one now.

The dealer I talked to was not willing to come down from MSRP + TTL. I will never pay MSRP for a vechicle. I also want to wait and see the new tahoes and suburbans. I may buy a new tahoe instead.

Maybe mines on the same train. Salesman said it was built last week. When did you order yours? Ordered mine the 26th of July.

The exterior changes helped, but the interior upgrades and drive train changes like you said are the main reasons I went with the '14. I was ready to jump on a '13 if I didn't like what I saw. After I saw how much they improved them I was hooked.

Happy with my '12. Bought it with plans to keep it for a long while. That plan hasn't changed.

I am anxious to see if they make a color matched front end in the near future...Sierra has em beat there.

Waiting for the 6.2L. Probably buy a 2015 model or 2016.
If the Dmax is pretty badass looking & perform well. I'd get one. (If I get that better job)

I agree about the color matched parts. The All Terrain is very nice, but I prefer the Chevy. The High Country still has the chrome and I don't like the decals or the color of the leather so its out.

2014 GMC has a lot better wheels too. The Chevy wheels are not nearly as attractive.

Still on my band wagon about the deployable running board option too. Those step bars look very gaudy and redundant, sewing as the steep rake and stock ride height is so low.

20in Chevy wheels are hideous. All chrome.. what were they thinking. The GMC AT 20in wheels looks 100x better IMO

Waiting on the 6.2L and the first year bugs to get worked out, also want to see if the 8sp transmission makes it out. Also would like to hear some real world mpg from the 6.2l people.

Also the 2010 6.2l was rated at 404hp I thought, they is a decent amount from the new 5.3 at 370hp. I may be on the fence though in regards to the 5.3/6.2, if the 370hp is that strong and is shows to get 22ish mpg then I might consider it.

I was originally really excited about the 2014 arrival, but after seeing them in person and seeing the 2014 sitting beside a 2013,I really don't like the new trucks, they are in your face bigger which I don't like I seriously think they need to start making the trucks a little smaller, I hate the new front end and the tailgate on the new trucks, they are too big and bold. The 900's made the 800's look small now the 2014's make the 900's look small in comparison.Maybe they will grow on me over time as I remember thinking the same thing about the 900's when they arrived and now I like them.My next truck will be a simple truck if there is such a thing, I want a truck that uses all of it's cylinders all the time, a truck that dosen't lock me in as soon as I throw it in gear, a truck that dosen't care if I wear a seat belt or not, a truck that dosen't care if the door is shut tight,or if your windshield washer fluid is low, they are building trucks idiot proof and I'm no idiot so these things annoy the heck out of me,sorry for my rant,I don't know what I will buy for a truck in the future but for now anyway it won't be a GM truck.

When the Denali and the 6.2 come available, I'm all in. It's getting real tough to keep waiting. The guys at the dealership keep telling me, "it will be worth the wait." ...So I keep waiting!
