Heat/Air Problem

Recommended Posts

I'm having some problems with my 05 Silverado's heating and air conditioning. Two or three times over the summer while I had my air on it would turn into hot air, really hot. Almost like I had the heat on full blast instead of the air. When I turned the truck off and then turned it back on again it was back to normal. About a week ago I had to use my heat for the first time and it was only putting out cool air. I'm trying to narrow down what the problem is. I'd like to try and avoid taking it anywhere and fix it myself, but I also don't want to just start throwing parts and money at it. Thoughts?

Thanks Nic

I've never done the repair but there are a few threads on here if you search. I think that with the dual zone one side is easier than the other. Does the passenger side of your truck do the same thing?

Do I tried my heat this morning and all of the vents blow cool air. Defrost, floor, everything. It seems like the passenger side isn't blowing quite as strong. Does this mean the passenger side actuator is bad?

I followed the links you guys provided and they were very helpful. I'm just trying to make sure I'm replacing the correct actuator.
