How did you choose between the Sliverado and Sierra

This is the first generation where I like both. In the previous generation, I thought the Sierra beat the Silverado in the looks department hands-down. With the 2014, I instantly loved the Silverado grill as the stacked headlines reminded me of my first ever car -- 1986 S-10 Blazer and all the Silverados from that era that I grew up wanting. I know this is the reason many are going with the Sierra this time, but for me, I love that old look. But then the Sierra started growing on me. Althought it does borrow from the look of the Ford Super Duty, it's a very bold, forward-thinking grill unlike anything GM has done in the past. And so then I thought for sure I'd go Sierra. But when I saw them both side-by-side at the dealership, I fell in love with both of them. In person, the squared off front-ends on both of them are so badass, so huge, and everything a truck should hope to look like. And now I just can't choose. I typically keep my vehicles until they die so I want to make sure that I don't get tired of whichever one I choose.

I honestly don't know how I'm ever going to purchase this thing. First I have to choose the model, then the combination or packages and options and engine. These trucks have so many choices to make that it's almost overwhelming and too much of a good thing. And makes me wonder if more people will have to custom order in order to get the exact truck you want since the chance of the exact build you want at another nearby dealership may be small.

It does seem from the pictures posted on this forum that overall more people are getting the Sierra but we'll see how that all plays out long-term. Just wondering why others made the choices they did between the two.

I have always had chevy trucks in the past.... many of them over the years. This year I got my first GMC. The reason.... because of the All Terrain. LED lights, fender flares, special interior, and wheels made the AT hands down the best... for me.

I had no interest in getting the silverado I loved the look of the Sierra but I needed a truck and I bought mine the first week out, the dealer only had Sierra ltz and the price was out of the question so I bought the Silverado. It's the biggest mistake I've made all year. I thought the look would grow on me and it hasn't.I already want to trade it in on a Sierra but will wait until the 2015 comes out to let some of the bugs get worked out.

I am having the same issue deciding. The recent intro of the HD models have me looking to them also. Don't really need quite the towing capacity they provide but the stance is awesome.

If there were an AT with step painted rear bumper and cooled seats I know which I would choose.

There were only two trucks within a 2-hour drive that were built like I wanted, obviously so early in the debut of the trucks. One was a Chevy, the other a GMC. Saw the Chevy first and got a good deal after a few days. I knew either one was a winner! My previous truck was a 1999 GMC Sierra SLT ext cab that was damn near perfect for over 14 years. Still is, as I sold it to a family member who loves it.

I went with GMC. Always wanted one but have had 3 Chevy Silverados. GMC just had a bit better look to me.

I traded an 09 xcab for my 2014 slt. Looked at bow tie vs gmc quite a bit. Looked like to me the GMC was a little nicer, plus I couln't get the wheels i liked on the Chevy Texas edition, only the GMC. And did I say I like the GMC looks a little better...But bet you could get a little bit better deal on a Chevy than you can a GMC. Not that many GMC dealerships out there compared to Chevy. So more Chevy pickups out there than GMC. But did I mention I like GMC a little bit better ;)

I like the local Chevy dealer better than the local snobby Cadillac/Buick/GMC dealer. Plus I like how the new Silverado paid tribute to the early 90's Chevy pickups, I have fond memories of them from high school. :)

My last 3 trucks have been GMC. I just like the styling of them over the Chevy. This time around though I did look at a Chevy and actually test drove a Silvy LT which compares (IMO) to the Sierra SLE I bought. The Silvy still had the non padded plastic dash from the old GMT-900 that I did not like. Plus it had options that were not included like on the Sierra. Over all I love my new truck. It seems more of an upgrade from my 2009 and it's still an SLE version. Plus the fact that my old truck was hard plastic all around from door to door the new one is much better in the respect that they padded quite a bit of the dash area now.

I like them both. My decision was based on the relationship I have with the owners of the local Chevy dealer. I got a great deal and IMO there's no way my local GMC dealer could match it.

When you need one you need one. This may help. I saw a Chevy '14 were the guy used bilstein 5100s to raise the nose a bit and took off the air dam. Really made the front and whole truck look better.

Yep...but they made GMC for trucks as Chevrolet was for cars. Then Chevy (GM) saw the opportunity to make more money with trucks branded Chevy as well.

Personally I have seen the Envoy hold up better than the Trailblazer, Yukon than the Tahoe...just my view and that's why I roll with GMC.
