LIVE POST: Driving the 2014 Buick Lineup

Recommended Posts

Good morning everyone! I'm currently in Cincinnati, Ohio getting ready to drive the entire 2014 Buick line. That includes a significant refresh to the 2014 Regal and 2014 LaCrosse. I'm pretty pumped, because the new refreshed models are seriously nice. From leather wrapped volume knobs in the LaCrosse to an 8-inch LCD screen in the gauge luster in the Regal, these are not your father's Buick. A significant sidebar to all this is that 2014 is the 110th year for Buick.

So, starting today at a little after 8am, eastern, check back in and we'll start our day driving the 2014 Buick lineup.

Here's a few stock photos to show you the new LaCrosse and Regal to get started.

Out driving the Regal GS! Wow, AWD and electric power steering have made a huge difference. The new interior is also a big improvement.

Yes! In the LaCrosse. Really nice touch. Puts Lincoln to shame

I have good news and bad news.

The bad news: my time herw is almost done.

The good news: I'm stealing a Regal GS and driving it back to NH over the next 6 days.

The LaCrosse and new Regal are pretty compelling.

Hello from Northeast, Ohio. I'm chilling here this weekend on Lake Erie. Drove up with this sick 2014 Regal GS. It took me a little under 6-hours. I'm in love with the 8-inch digital gauges. I also averaged 30.5MPG!

I'm going to hold on to this Regal for a few days and drive it home to NH the middle of next week. I'll post a new "Regal Roadtrip" thread tomorrow.

If that was someone's concern, I'd just say they should get an Impala instead.

I drove a LaCrosse a few years back- maybe 2010? Buick has been schooling Lincoln for ages now. They may have had a lock on the livery market but even from the late 90s the 3.8-powered W-bodies were better than anything a regular driver could get from Lincoln or the more direct competitor, Mercury. GM got blasted for making the Cadillac Cimmeron (rebadged Caviler) in the 80s yet in high school a friend had a Mercury Tracer which was basically an Escort with velour seats.

I really like the regal and lacrosse, i'm glad that they put awd in the regal but disappointed that they dropped the power in it rather than upping it.

I too was disappointed in the horsepower numbers drop... but then I talked to an engineer and he explained what happened. The power band has been changed for the better. Yes, it's a lower maximum number... but the torque curve has been dropped by 500-1000RPM and beefed up. The end result is a car with more low-end torque and better driving feel.... despite being lower in total maximum output.
