WheeeeeeeW! Got new Wheels and leveled now vibrates real bad!&

OK this may be discussed a Kajillion Billion times, but today i got Nitto Terra Grapplers 275/60 r 20 and Utlra Maverick chrome wheels, also have a RC 2" level in front. Now when i had my " punch me in the mouth ugly wheels" 18" it rode like butter, almost like watching a Rolo commercial. Now though it vibrates so bad at 65 + mph. the whole truck is shaking, so i took it back to dealer. The "tire guy" said he balanced it perfect and it was vibrating because of the level kit and the wheels and the type of tire. I never had these AT tires before so is this normal and i have to suck it up because all terrain tires. the terra grapplers do not have serious tread. I personally think its the wheel out of balance. Help? anyone one? hello!? please?????? Thanks in advance!!!!!

shouldn't do that. If the tires are balanced good... something else is wrong. Maybe a defective tire.

Was everything ok when you got the level kit....before you got the tires and rims. If so.. there is your answer.

It could be a number of things, defective tire, defective rim, or a bad balance. Do you know if these rims are hub centric or lug centric? I've heard of people needing these little rings that you use to make the rim centered on the hub. Are you positive that all the wheels were put on and torqued properly? Those tires you have will no doubt add some noise but the vibration part is bullshit and I would tell him he's full of crap.

If it only does it at or above a certain MPH, I would go with a balancing issue.

Will, i did tell him he was full of crap, i asked why wasn't the ones with 20 or 22 " aftermarket wheels ride ok ( i drove them while waiting) and he swore that he put on the hub rings! I gonna go to firestone or pep boys and have balanced rechecked! I hope its not a defective tire!

From what some people are saying about having vibration issue's is prop shaft alignment issue. Could your truck be just on the edge when stock, but with the front level kit it's now creating a vibration?

Shouldn't be the 20" wheels or the level kit, but anything is possible. I have always had 20" wheels and for a little while had a front level. Neither affected my ride and I never had vibration issues....

maybe, but no vibration when i had the 18" stock wheels with 265 r18 on it.

Want to make sure we have the facts. So you had it leveled 1st and it was still ok, right? Then it has to be something with the wheels or tires if nothing else changed. My other comment was meant to say that going from 18" to 20" wheels shouldn't cause you an issue with vibrations. But since the wheel tire combo looks to be the only change it's one or the other.. or both. Go back to whoever sold/installed those...

I had that issue on my pontiac g8 when I changed tires. Dealer told be the hub rings shouldnt be on their and im lucky the wheel didnt fall off. Said they lugs couldnt tighten up properly. After they took the rings off vibration was gone. Be careful driving it to fast.

Is the vibration in the steering wheel or gas pedal? If it's in the steering whelk it's prob coming from the tires or another component in the steering. If it's in the pedal it's prob coming from the drive train. Did you have a alignment after the leveling kit was installed? Maybe go over all the bolts that were taken off to put the leveling kit in and re-torque them. It's possible you have a bad tire, you could try swapping the fronts to the back to see if it goes away or gets worse.

I've had 40" mud grapplers and terra grapplers In a 33" and never had a vibration.

yes had a 4 wheel alignment done immediatley following the level. I may try to do the switch in tires. the vibration is not in the pedals, more in the steering wheel but seems as the whole truck is shaking, not just the steering wheel if that makes sense! I will ask to retorque the leveling kit bolts too!

oh wow! thanks for the advice! if going up two sizes don't you usually have the hub rings added or needed!
