Put the deposit down!

So I put the deposit down for the order of my 2014 Denali 6.2L short box crew cab white diamond truck with a sunroof. Any bets on how long it'll take me to get a TPW?

Lets see....4 weeks Denali, 4 more sunroof, 4 more 6.2, 2 Wks White Diamond=mid Feb.

I'm guessing 12-15 but I thought they weren't accepting new orders!!! Did you order a week ago?

Constraints don't accumulate but they can stretch out longer.

Just talked to the sales manager at D'Arcy GMC to switch the color. He said that GMC has been grabbing orders like crazy and that production of the 6.2L is starting to pick up. Any inside thoughts?

When I ordered my truck in 08. American Axle went on strike and my January (brand new truck) arrived in JUNE . 6 months later.

I put down the 1000.00 dollar deposit. After the original delivery date was way passed I could of cancelled my order and recieve my deposit back.

Wait for your truck, no matter how long it takes it will be still YOURS !!!!

Enjoy

Holy cow!!!! $1000 down just to order? Guys, it cost the dealer nothing to place an order. Why put your money at risk? Any decent high volume dealer will gladly order your truck for free and if you do not pick it up, they sell it. The market is too competitive to risk that kind of money on a truck order.

If her gonna buy it what difference does it make? $1000 less you need for DP 3 months later when it arrives

When I ordered mine I would have told them to S my D if they asked for a deposit.

Why

They are ordering a truck that you want. There is no guarantee if you walk away others would want it. Granted this is highly unlikely. 4 vehicles I have put down $250 on each never felt uncomfortable about this at all

I put my deposit ($500) down last monday for the 6.2L max towing. As of Thurs the order was accepted, but no scheduled production date. One of the reps on the chat page said to plan about 12 weeks....so who knows!

There's more to it than the deposit. GM penalizes the dealer on future allocations for ordering sold units that don't sell and end up in inventory. In the old days dealers used every trick in the book to get an extra allocation of vehicles in short supply. That's why most dealers require a deposit or else many will place your order as inventory to avoid the penalty.

Every vehicle on the lot is ordered, the dealer orders according to the most popular amenities to help sales. All features offered are desirable by the majority of people buying that vehicle.

Gm won't manufacture pink trucks or seats with a vibrating crotch. Those would not sell but a few.

Yes but there is a special code for "sold" trucks

Ryan is right. GM will build the sold truck first and will penalize the dealer if they don't sell it to the original name it was ordered under.
