Does it happen right after you start accelerating? Like a snap?

My 2014 Sierra does this and when in low gear. Dealership couldn't find anything wrong. They had it for 3 weeks, replaced everything from chassis mounts, to new leaf springs. Still have no clue..

Mine does it as soon as I accelerate from a stop light and when I slow down at stop lights. It's just a click. My friends have gotten a great laugh from it since the stealership said it dosent do it. The had it for a whole day for service and didn't put a mile on it. My friends won't be getting gm's

Has anyone found a solution to this problem as I am having the same issue? Sounds like it is coming from the right rear area. Happens when I pull away or come to a stop but not exactly at the moment when I press accelerator pedal. It it is not U-joints. I discovered the gas tank shield is loosely hanging on the metal tabs so I bent those tabs tighter but no change.

I also found some sort of flap or valve mounted inside the tailpipe just behind the muffler. It has a tension spring on the shaft outside the pipe it and if I turn it by hand, it makes a sound like what I am hearing. I suspect that is what is causing it. It looks like this flap may move when exhaust pressure changes. I think the spring is binding and making the clicking sound. Is there a tech bulletin for this. What is the valve for? Can it be lubricated? It did not happen for the first 3 months I had the truck.

I just bought a new 2015 GMC 1500 4 x 4 reg cab long bed. My trans case is in 2 wheel dr mode. As soon as engine starts I have sort of a clicking noise coming from under the truck, between the front wheels somewhere. My hearing isn't what it used to be and its hard to pin point the source but a new truck making a loud enough noise for me to hear isn't what I paid for when I bought the truck. The dealer is more than an hour drive away so I will need to take time off work. It seems to get a little louder as the engine gets warmer. Not real loud but enough to annoy you,esp on a new vehicle with 50 miles on it. I had a 2014 same 5.3 engine and I never heard it on that one. I had planned to keep this truck and was getting ready to install my snow plow but am having second thoughts if this noise turns out to be something serious. The noise is under the truck, bottom end or perhaps transfer case, or exhaust ? It is NOT from the fuel injection as you do NOT hear it with the hood open, you need to be standing along the side of the truck at either side door ( reg cab 2 dr ) and it comes from underneath. Any info or advise ? This is as the truck is standing still in neutral. If you rev slightly, noise gets faster with the RPM's but harder to hear over the engine noise.

I have the EXACT same noise kgun74. It is annoying the crap out of me. Although, Chevy made the cab so quiet I can't hear it inside.

Check the plugs wires. Make sure they are completely pressed on.

Have a 2013 here, but would have described the sound similar to what Kgun74 did.

Third wire back on passenger side was connected, but clicked when I pushed it on making sure it was tight.

The noise went away following that.
