I was unable to get any info this morning after calling GMC corporation customer service, and the dealer I purchased the truck from concerning a ordered and cash deposit paid for the all cash agreed upon contract signed truck order completed on October 27th. The truck I agreed to buy is a GMC 1500 slt 4x4 crew cab with a 6.2 ltr engine. I was told today at GMC that they see the order all they could say was that it was in que to be built. GMC gave no estimated production date given or estimated when it may be ready. The woman at GMC said they have no reason stated ( or at least this customer service agent could not divulge or get the real reason but I felt like she was indicating a parts shortage). I was told to check back each week, when three weeks ago the dealer said it was to be built on Nov 21st. Basically this morning they told me nothing.

A couple of questions for anyone who may have a guess as to what is going on so that I can make some sort of decision on the truck.

Thank you in advance and as you can tell I am a novice to car buying and presume honesty in those I meet.

Get your order number and go to this web site and ask where your vehicle is in the system.

She we look and tell you what the current status is. Don't complain about anything.

Note - GM does not give out exact production dates such as the 21st, only thing that is available is the Targeted Production Week (TPW) which means its tentatively scheduled to be built during that time frame but thats not a guarantee.

There were/are some constraints in place right now on the new trucks, the 6.2 is one of them. As said the 6.2's are hitting the lots. I am waiting on the one I found to be delivered (hopefully this week) so my dealer can trade one of their 6.2's with the other dealer to get the truck in I wanted.

I ordered a Sierra on October 28 with 6.2 and the dealer is telling me GMC will not take the order yet. With the plant closing for Holidays, he is telling me the order might not be picked up until next year, putting a delivery date into late February.

Does this sound right?

It could be correct, I know when my dad worked for GM it wasn't uncommon for the plants to shut for for 2-3 weeks for the holidays.
