DRL on with Parking Light 99-07

Anyone have any insight? I want my DRL to come on with the parking lights. My DRL bulbs are amber not white. Having issues with the diode method. I ran from pin 85 of the parking light relay to pin 85 of the DRL relay.

So you want it to be DRL and parking?

Yes, amber all the way across when parking lights are turned on. DRL only during the day

Could you wire it to accessory? So as long as the truck is on they'll be on. They wouldn't flash with your remote though.

I wa t them to work like normal. Come on at night when I lock my truck, be on at day, and come on with parking lights as an extra.

You could tap the positive on you parking lights into the positive of your drl with a diode so as not to have your parking lights come on with your drl lights with a power back feed.

Tried that using the relays. Same things as you described but in the fuse box. Didnt work. I got some parking light/signal sockets I will use for the DRL. I will take the 2nd hot lead and tap into the parking light hot and not mess with the signal.

You'll have to put the running light socket in the DRL holder. I just shaved off the extra piece in the DRL holder.

What? I dont want to delete my DRL in daytime. Just a new socket wired the same, but with the extra lead going to the adjacent parking light wiring

Diodes only let electricity flow one way and you wouldn't have to cut the housing to add a bulb. Just do all the wiring right up front with a jumper I'd use a 12" piece cut at 6" insert the diodes here. This is so you can still replace the bulbs easily.

 

This would be a lot simpler than relays.

I wont have to cut the housing. The DRL uses a white version of the parking light bulb if it doesnt work back to the drawing board. The diode didnt work. I tried it in a few different ways.

I used the existing relays

 

This way requires no diodes, no relays, just a t tap. I wil know more on Saturday when the parts come in

I meant put the diode right there at the housing.

I did this in the way of the 4 high mod which is essentially the same thing I am trying to accomplish with the parking lights. My 4 high is done with a relay and inline fuse. I already have parts on order so if that fails I will pursue a different route.

 

The way I have parts for utilizes the second filament in the 3157 bulb so one will be used for DRL and one for a second parking light bulb.

Wouldnt have thought of doing this with my old housings, but something about the new ones makes me want it this way.
