:M16: "Misfire Issues?" What have you been reading? The Remington 700 is the most reliable center-fire rifle ever made! The reason they have been the US snipers rifle of choice is because they go bang every time! "They" only get one chance! :flag:

You can bump fire a 700.. the original designer even has come out and stated that his reworked design to prevent it was only .06 cents at the time in 47-48 and remington told him hush hush. I love 700's.. more so the 700 action to build benchrest rifles off of, but they are not the best of the best.. Accu-Trigger from savage= best factory trigger in any bolt rifle, you can lock it up with side pressure though, and at that point you turn the bolt up and then back down into battery to recock it, as Savages cock on opening.

Savage 10 series, or Tikka T3 hunter series would probably be my first choices for the deer/bear gun, external box mags, amazing triggers, 1moa pretty much guaranteed, and light weight, ideally for your calibers you would want a 8lb gun with glass, I like the Tikkas > Rem 700's. Much lighter and the recoil will kill you, much heavier and you wont carry it.

As far as the 1911's.. you can find alot of nice ones at any price point, but with production level models at the 450-700$ models there kind of hit or miss d/t manufacturing tolerances, remember when the 1911 was first introduced everything was hand fit to the gun, pieces that are + on the tolerance and then the next one is -- on the tolerance scale seem to have issues in the 1911. Remington makes some nice midrange ones such as R1 Stainless, Kimber makes really nice ones, obviously there a little more expensive but i'm sure you can find a used one too.

Thanks man, I think I'm gonna get the Ruger Scout .308, I'm still considering the Tikka T3. Does it comes in the 308?

Also, I think I'm gonna get the Kimber, Tactical.

Can't get a more accurate rifle for the money than a Remington 700 5r milspec 308. With my hand loads I can pretty much keep them in the same hole at 100 yards all day. Of course the scope is more than the gun and the base and runs are another 300ish. Heavy rifle to hump around the woods all day though.

Looks like Remington is having more issues. If they keep this up my 887 will be the last Remington I bought ever.

I'm looking at pistols again. For carry I'm looking at the LC9 and Karr, maybe a KelTec.

I'm fairly certain that recall has been out a while.

I have a 300 win mag I need to check... see if it's in the serial range.

Thanks for the reminder
