can right side front diff bearing be removed and replaced while in tru

I was wondering if the passenger side output bearing in the front differential can be replaced without dropping the diff from the truck? Its a 2008 silverado 1500 4x4

you need to buy a service ifomation manaul online for this job ,alldata is good a cheap enough ,,,who diagnosed this bearing concern ?

I diagnosed it. It has tons of humming and gets worse noises in 4wd and auto 4wd mode. Wheel hub bearings are all tight. Got under truck and the front diff side bearing is leaking and slinging lots of oil and it has play up and down.

do you mean the right front axle shaft oil seal and the little bearing inside the right axle tube ?

yes the axle tube can come out and leave the main diff housing up in place ,,,,,your terminology is all wrong ,,,,the side bearings are on the inside diff housing ,,,they support the pumpkin

its a 2008 4 door silverado z-71 1500. yeah, sorry, my termanology sucks. haha but that is the bearing im talking about. its the one at the end of the tube.

Listen to govtech, this is suuuper easy to do. I have done it probably 10 times, what usually happens is the seal goes bad, no one notices until it starts whining and by then its too late... But be sure it is truly bad, often times it's just the seal, and those shafts do have a good bit of play and the bearings are still ok...

Yes. You guys were right. I rotated the tires, New hub bearings, and noise is gone.
