Speculation on Colorado/Canyon V6 mpg

Hello guys, I know this is pure speculation but what do you guys think the mpg rating will be on the new Colorado V6 crew cab 4x4? I am looking for a new truck and want the best mpg possible. I am interested in the new colorado but I don't think there will be much of a price difference between crew cab z71 4x4 silverados and colorados. The size of the truck doesn't matter to me so naturally I would like the silverado better if the mpg is close and price is close. I read that they went with the smaller v6 over the 4.3 they put in the silverado because the mpg was better. with a 24mpg hwy rating in the v6 silverado I am thinking this new colorado won't be rated any higher than 26mpg hwy. What do you guys think?

I was thinking about this as well. I currently have a 2011 Traverse, mine is AWD. I think were I saw that the Colorado crew cab is going to be something like 600lbs lighter then the Traverse, and a AWD Traverse is rated at 23 hwy. I know I am not comparing apples to apples, but the driveline is going to be the same I assume with the engine and transmission. I would think that it would be rated at 25-26 hwy, I should say that would be my hope. I was very interesting in a crew cab z71, but I think I am going to pull the trigger on a Silverado manly because I don't want to wait until fall to get a new vehicle. The diesel will be interesting to watch, with a higher cost, higher fuel, higher maintenance, unless it gets outstanding fuel economy, I can't see them selling to many, but I am glad GM is at least offering the product, it gives people choices, and I like choices!

If the V6 is anything like the one in the Terrian or Equinox I kinda doubt it will be that much higher and like others have said if you want a fuel sipper it would be best to wait for the diesel.

I doubt it will be much better than the big brother sierra / silverado trucks. Look at what a Tacoma / Frontier gets, 22/16 , 21/15. I'm guessing 25/19 for a 3.6 2WD , 23/18 for a 3.6 4x4.

I'll stick with the fullsize truck myself!

Thats actually pretty good. Plus the Canyon will be a good bit lighter than a fullsize. So it will probably have some giddy-up.

2wd 2.5: 21/29

2wd 3.6: 19/26

2wd 2.8: 22/31

4x4 2.5: 20/26

4x4 3.6: 18/24

4x4 2.8: 20/29

Considering from my experience the 4.3 gets roughly the same mpg as the 5.3, I'm not disappointed they are going with the 3.6. If I had my choice I'd pick the 5.3 over them all, I bet the 5.3 in a 4500 lb truck could pull 25 hwy.

Are these numbers just your predictions....or have they actually been posted somewhere? I can't seem to find any information yet.

Predictions. Seeing how the Malibu gets 37 Mpg and the Impala 31 while weighing close to as much as a 2wd ext cab will, I'd bet my numbers are fairly close. The duramax in foreign markets gets 27mpg in 4x4 trim and the global market trucks are some 700 lbs heavier. I wouldn't be surprised if my predictions are pretty close.

Everyone , I talked to a chevy rep today and your not going to like what I have to say, I was informed the 2015 chevy colorado crewcab Z71 3.6 4 X 4 with the shortbed gas mileage is 16 City and 21 Highway , and the 2015 chevy colorado crewcab 4 cyl 4 X 4 with shortbed will get 18 City and 25 highway, The 2015 colorado 3.6 V6 Z71 crewcab in 4 X 4 configuration was boasted by chevy to be better than the 2012's 4 X 4 4.3 v6's 25 mpg Highway I guess they fell short of expectations
