My new '14 Sierra SLT (Black / Chrome) First impressions

After months of looking I finally found a local(ish) '14 GMC SLT that had everything I wanted! What an awesome truck...

'14 GMC SLT 4x4

5.3 L83 / 3.42 rear gears.

Black leather interior with heated and cooled seats, which I've just been switching back and forth like a toddler.

Navigation works decent, Onstar is nice for getting a place found quickly.

Driver Assist package... I thought this would be dumb but I LOVE the lane departure already. And the backup sensors are nice too.

Bluetooth works really well and I am happy with that. Coming from an '03 Corvette Z06, this is a much different animal but the interior and ride is fantastic. No issues with seats, vibrations, or noise yet, hopefully that continues to be true. Also, very impressed with the 5.3 power... much to like about the new DI engines.

Nice truck!

I'm right with you on the lane departure. Figured it would be a waste but after I got use to the seat vibration its great.

What do you plan on blacking out first?

Did you get rid of the vette or keep it? I got rid of a muscle car and am already getting the itch again lol!! Nice looking truck I also have a black/black w/ same drivetrain but mines an all terrain so no chrome bumpers.

I sold the Vette but I still have a Camaro and Trans Am project in the works to keep me scratching. AT's in black look amazing, great call. I couldn't find one with the AC seats so I went with the SLT but now I'll have to get the bumpers and wheels done on my own.

Throttle response is good but it could use a tune to really optimize the calibration.

Throttle response is good but it could use a tune to really optimize the calibration.

"Could use a tune" is the understatement of the century when it comes to these trucks, or should I say any V8 GM vehicle equipped w/ their electronic throttle & 6 speed auto. Miserable tip in/throttle response, sloppy shifts at anything but 80% throttle or more - even clunking around at light throttle making it sound/feel like something is broken. Pulled timing, "torque mgmt" aka the pussification of the small block V8, etc etc

But, fear not just like my last car (G8 equipped w/ same 6 speed) or numerous Camaros and such I have driven that have been tuned correctly its an easy fix and really increases the pleasure factor when driving....I'm waiting for my tuner to be ready to do mine.

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I put a couple more miles on it today and I am finally getting used to how it drives. It's so quite I constantly find myself doing about 10mph more than I am expecting. Me likey.
