I just took mine off, a day after driving the truck home from the dealer.

Where are you located?

Does it rub at all after the norcal mod? I'm getting ready to do my 2015 Silverado 1500 in a couple of days. Any advise would be appreciated.

It still rubs but it's very mild. If your wheels are less than 12 wide you should be good. Only true way to clear 12 wides is 6" lift. I've gotten use to it. 3/4 steering up front. If you have to back up be ready for a 6 point turn. Rides like shit looks sweet.

Got the driver assist handle installed at the dealership hoping it wouldn't have the gap issue with the headliner others have reported when doing it themselves, but turns out it must just be how that part was designed.  Not bad but a little annoyed I paid 20 bucks for them to do it and it still isnt really perfect.

The last picture is the passenger side handle which has no gap for comparison.   If anyone knows how to get that gap to go away please let me know, otherwise I'll just live with it since the handle still seems perfectly sturdy and functional.

I had the gap when I first put mine in and when I pulled it back out to see why it wouldn't seat I found this clip from the original one was stuck in the slot. Pulled it out with some needle nose pliers and the new one popped right in with no gap.

Took the family to a pumpkin patch Saturday and had some fun in some mud. Took mom to go see the new Halloween movie.

Today was gorgeous so I decided to let the car stretch its legs. Hadn’t been driven in almost two weeks due to the weather. 34fd749c889a05c8151e5d0162cae65a.jpg

I removed factory step bars and replaced with n-fab bars that I had on my 15, finally.  I left the truck with no bars for a few weeks and liked the look, but the kids like the step and these will save the seat edges hopefully.  I'll have pics later.  I also ordered a set of all black emblems but am debating on installing.

My 5100's came in the other day and no rain today so I went to install, but then I noticed the rust(after 4 years and 33k miles)...
This is gonna take awhile and yes, it's as fun as it looks! I'll spray everything down with Krown rust protection when I'm done.

I just finished mitigating my frame corrosion issue. I spent a ton of time prepping the frame with the same tools you’re using. I also used a needle scaler and xylene to strip the wax. Toluene would have been a better choice since it evaporates faster. If you use a solvent be extra careful around any plastic or rubber.

I sprayed two coats of POR-15 (1 quart). If you spray, I highly recommend you use a narrow spray pattern, siphoned spray gun, tyvek, cartridge respirator with new cartridges and follow their thinning instructions closely if you choose to thin it. I thinned mine with a little too much POR-15 solvent and it made the paint run. You will miss spots even when spraying so keep a little left over to paint with a brush. Most of the time you spray the gun will be turned sideways (the grip in particular) if you do it on ramps like yours. Plan accordingly and turn the siphon tank 90 degrees from the angle of the grip. That will allow the tank to be oriented down while the grip is sideways.

I top coated with 5 cans of Rust-Oleum Professional Rubberized Undercoating. I also had a can of the non-professional rubberized undercoating to darken up the finish. The professional version has superior adhesion but can look a little chalky at times. The non-pro version is darker and adheres well to the pro version. The value of these rattle cans to get into tight spots cannot be overstated.

For the differential cover and the resonator on the exhaust I used Rust-Oleum black bar-b-q paint. Just the standard version since it isn’t glossy. It has held up very well on both parts. Before winter, I plan on spraying fluid film on the inside of the frame.

Here are some pics that I just went out and took of the undercarriage unwashed. There’s some dirt and dust but you’ll get the idea of how it turned out. Be sure to check out the pics in the link below of what the frame looked like when I started.

Good luck, the hard work will pay off.

Mine is doing the same thing and I installed my own. I wonder if there is a batch of these that might need a bit more pressure on them and have expanded a little more than they should have. For now I’ll just live with it. Plus like TXgreek said you forget about it. At first it pissed me off but spending too much time keep taking it off doesn’t make it any better lol.

At least you're hones. Tired of the "rides better than stock after a 4" level" comments on here. No level makes a truck ride better haha. Except maybe perhaps $1500 coilovers...maybe

I had no idea until today they are making a 2019 LD model that is still a K2 build.  I took mine in to try to get the remaining squeaks out of the dash area and they gave me a 2019 Silverado so I was really excited I'd get to try out the new style to see how I liked it.  Then I see it's an LD and find out they are still keeping our build style around in limited trims all with bench seating and double cab from what this article says.  But if you really hate the new style but want a 2019 you now have an option as long as you dont want bucket seats, crew cab, or ltz.  How did I not hear about this before driving one?  Haha
