Anybody running 102mm TB and ported stock intake manifold??

Anybody running a ported intake manifold and ported throttle body? If so was it worth the money for the gains you recieved?

 

I was talking to someone from peak speed shop who said that the 87mm TB's that come on our trucks have enough meat to be bored out to 102mm. Basically similar to the FAST setup i would assume.

 

Price was $450 for the intake and $75 for the throttle body to be done. Worth it?

there are other things I would do first. that to me is a last resort ,among with other internal mods, when all other bolt ons leave you wanting more. That type of work really benefits with headers and full exhaust.

Right but a full exhaust system is $2400. Im asking if the $500 to port these things is worth it? What gains are people seeing?

 

I may end up doing long tubes into the stock exhaust as im not sure i want another loud truck just yet.

you will see probally upwards 20 hp

With that budget you woild get more bang with a custom tune (not out of box tune). I had a freind gain 90 hp on an evo with a street tune. The guy rode in the pass seat with his laptop adjusting timeing and fuel maps. He cranked boost up to 26lbs and raised rev as well.

On a gen 3 6.0 I put out 325 to the wheels on a tune. Engine puts out 345 to the crank stock. Tune is worth it

You arent going to get massive gains from this stuff to make it worth the cash. The engine can only pull so much air. This is limited by the cam and heads. Porting will only go so far if the engine cant pull anymore air through the larger openings

The best bang for the buck with an automatic transmission is a performance TC, I would go with the 3600 2.2 STR flavor, you already have the trans cooler, install a shift kit, and more aggressive 2-4 servo, and get your shift points changed.

 

It would not hurt to get a SF29 race grade flex plate while you are in there.

 

This alone will change the way the vehicle drives dramatically.

i would pay 75 for a tb but would pay to hav e my intake ported.

Look at it this way. Your heads theoretically flow 750 cfm. You get you intake ported and it flows 1000 cfm. It doesnt change that your heads only flow 750
