Garage too short for my new GMC Sierra. Ideas?

Recommended Posts

Do you have the long bed or short bed? This is the exact reason I went with the short bed - I couldn't fit a long one in my garage.

Ironically, my standard bed just fits. I have about 2 inches in front and 2 in the rear. My wife is a saint. I used to park outside and she parked inside, but since I have the nicer vehicle she told me to park it in the garage :) Love that woman!

Hate to revive an old crazy thread...but it doesnt ever seem perfectly clear to me after reading all 8 pages as to the exact length of a 15 short box denali....My garage is 234 inches exactly and if the truck is truly 229.5 I shouldnt have a problem fitting it into my garage. Can anyone comment on what the end results were from everyone? Thanks so much. Great being a new member of the forum.

I can't remember if GM's length includes the rear bumpers or not. They used to not include the bumpers (or even sometimes mirrors), but they might have changed. Your best bet would be to take a loaner home from a dealer for a test fit.

Big idea here.... maybe, idk, park outside? It's a truck... not a vette. Who cares if it see's a little snow? Thats what remote start is for.

Either that or it's time for a garage expansion or addition. The first option seems like the obvious answer to me though. It gives you even more room for more toys.... like a vette...

I just read through this old thread again. It looks like GM's specs should include the bumper, but the OP had a 5" longer truck for some reason. Many other posters (me included) measured our trucks to be the 230" that GM claims. So, it should fit, but it might not. You won't know for sure until you try it.

I have to park in the garage because of the configuration of my driveway, I would block anyone from getting out of the garage unless I parked it on the street which Im not going to do with a potentially 60k dollar truck. I dont have a dealer really close to me that would give me a loaner so I was just looking for the easy answer on the 15 Denali Short box. Thanks guys

I park mine outside and we get at least 120" of snow each winter. I get one side of the garage and my wife gets the other... so I maxed out my side.

Anybody have a real world measurement recently for a Sierra denali shortbox or similar?

I just double checked and my Denali crew cab short box is approximately 229", I used a straight edge on the back at the receiver and the front at the center of the bumper.

I just got a new 2015 Denali short box and it fits in my garage exactly the same as my 2014 did. I had measured the 2014 to be 230". The OP in this post is really the only person who's had a longer truck for whatever reason.

Me too. My 2011 extended cab Silvy was the same length as my 2014 double cab and fits exactly the same in the garage at 230".
