Slot above the headlight switch ??

Recommended Posts

My Chevy has a bigger opening near the top left of the dash above the light dial that I use to hold my work keys. The work keys have the RFID FOB that gets me into and out of work... I really like having the pocket there. Easy to see, Easy to retrieve.

It is actually a slot to plug in your portable interocitor and if you turn it 18 degrees to the left you will actually be able to receive FM stations on the radio.

I heard that "The slot is going to be for using your bank card to transfer money between your different bank accounts in the 2015 Model Year".

I know that's BS.... I mean seriously... Who has any money left to transfer after buying one of these.

Nope. It is below the "Integrated Brake Controller". See pic in thread.

Your correct. I was working from memory and looking at trucks on the lot.

On non-brake controller trucks, there is something other than flat panel in the brake control spot.

On electronic shift 4wd trucks, the control knob is centred between the brake control location and the light switch. Don't know what they do if it's a floor shift transfer case.

Maybe there is a 3rd version on trucks with no brake control and no electric 4wd shift.

This would be one of those things where our local GM Customer Service reps could be really helpful. They should be able to contact GM and see what the slot is really for.

When I was test driving trucks late last year, my dealer admitted that nobdoy there had any clue what the slot was for. They said people asked them all the time and they were trying to find out, but at the time they were clueless.

I read a review where they mentioned that the slot is for parking cards. Some parking lots dispense a card when you enter, and you uses that card to pay and exit the lot. This slot would be perfect as it would prevent the card from being lost in the console, cup holders, pockets, wallet, wherever you might have put it to not lose it. The RV storage i go to requires a plastic card to enter and exit, this would be another place this slot could be used. I was a little disappointed to read in this thread that it is not there on the 4x4 models, but then I thought "no! it was on the truck i test drove". Just realized that i tested the 1wt with manual 4x4.
