Dealer called next Thursday we can order my 15

Recommended Posts

Wonder what those door moldings will look like on the 2LT. Not sure I'm a fan of that. Not many changes. Hope they've at least worked out the kinks.

Probably the exact (body side moldings) same thing as that is on the Sierra SLE right now. Color matched to the paint like the door handles and mirror caps.

If you check here, the 2015 1LT and 2LT will also be getting the body color door handles and mirror caps, along with the body color body side moldings. Whats not to like?

Are you just speculating about the 6.2L only being available in the 4th quarter? I don't see a date put on it anywhere, so I'm hoping it will be sooner.

I was happy about everything I was seeing in the guide until that little note under the 6.2L. Guess I won't be starting the order process next week.

Sorry, I could have sworn I read something someplace about 4th quarter. I see it says not available at this time under the 6.2L. Silverado

This was the outdated information I was referring to. It is on the Sierra online ordering guide. It is worded different on the Silverado online ordering guide.

In any case, I am sorry for the bad information above.

I found what I read under the DENALI online ordering guide. See below note 1. I did read it, just forgot where. Might be a clue though?

Ah ha, I had only read the Silverado guide. Another intersting note I found was that the NHT package still specifically says that it has the 6 speed and 3.73 gears. I wonder if you order a 2015 6.2 without the NHT if you will get the 8 speed and 3.23 gears or if you order NHT you would still get the 6 speed and 3.73s.

I just realized I gave you the wrong link to the 1500 Denali. It also lists the 3.42 as the only gear ratio for the Denali. See correct link below.

http://eogld.cloud.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/proddesc.jsp?year=2015&regionID=1&divisionID=2&type=0&vehicleID=17145&section=oi_def&page=6&butID=3

At this point, I don't know if GM even knows what it wants to do. The 3.23 must be for the 8 speed, if in fact they are going to put one in, but I'm sure it would be available in the Denali as well, and they only list the 3.42??? The 8 speed 6.2L with the 3.23 would probably be a nice cruiser, and for haulin azz, but probably for towing, not so much. A lot of shifting gears, especially towing in hilly terrain, I would think?

I would bet at this point, the dealers don't know any more than we do? Hopefully I am wrong, but when I was shopping/researching last year, I knew more about the trucks/packages/standard equipment/available options than the dealership. In all fairness, I was researching for over a year, and waiting for the Double Cab which was around 6 months behind the Crew Cab. And yes, a little obsessed at that point. LOL

Just looked again at the Denali Sheet. Might be some more clues??? Only 3.42, and no max tow listed.

Good luck to you guys ordering the 2015's, I have a feeling that the dealers and GM will not be on the same page, at least for a while?

I see the 3.08 gear ratio is now the standard on both the Silverado and Sierra with 5.3L motors. The 3.42 was standard on the 5.3L Sierra for 2014. So if you order, double check to make sure you have the right gear ratio you want, or it will default to the 3.08 for the 5.3L. The 4.3 is 3.23 for the 4x2, and 3.42 for the 4x4 like 2014.

Denali only gives you the 3.42 gear ratio.

The 3.23 rear end is just for the 4.3L, not for an 8 speed tranny.

Not any more. You might want to read this??? Available in LTZ (1LZ, 2LZ), and High Country (3LZ). The 8-speed is anyone's guess at this point.

GU5 Rear axle, 3.23 ratio

1 - Standard and only available on (LV3) 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine with 2WD models.

2 - Available with (L86) 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine.

Scroll down about 3/4 of the way down the page to Free Flow RPO Code "GU5".

Same on Sierra SLT.

I couldn't tell from the links provided, but does anyone know if the High Country/Denali can be ordered with the standard sized bed instead of the short unlike the '14? Also will the HC get the magnetic ride control like the Denali?

Thanks, and looking forward to finally replacing my '02!

I believe there is a member on here with a 6.5' box High Country. Think I saw it in the 2014 pictures thread, it was brownstone metallic. So it shouldn't be a problem.
