CHEVROLET emblem wiggle?

Recommended Posts

Posted

Was getting some sap off of the side of my door that was on the lettering of 'CHEVROLET'...noticed that if i grabbed the letter and gave a little effort I could actually wiggle the letters....all of them.

I thought it was possible that it was that one door, but the passenger is the same.

Can anyone confirm?

Its a '14 silverado

where are you located?, i.e. ambient temperature. If the surface of your truck is hot is would not be unreasonable that the emblem adhesive could be softened by the heat and in as much, would not take much force to "wiggle" them.

also, please consider completing your profile to tell other members where you are

browse a lot, but never made a profile, and I googled a lot before posting this question and could need find any feedback.

I'm from NH, ambient right now is about 85-90 so yes the panels of the truck are warm just not very impressed the adhesive would soften like that. Not an excuse in my book.

Here is the truck:

My 2010 has done this from new and the letters stay on fine. Relax and don't mess with it and you will have no worries

These letters are stuck on with double sided thin foam tape. With the temps that you have in the summer time this stuff will become soft and pliable. They will move around like you have seen in hot temps. I live in Georgia and have never had any letters come off. You will be fine just leave them alone.

Didn't know they put CHEVROLET on the doors, do you mean SILVERADO?

They use foam tape, and are designed to move/give a little. Otherwise they would pop off if anything came in contact with them.

It is a major design flaw and only applies to the GM trucks. I would take it to your dealer and complain. After three attempts with out a fix I would force them to buy it back. Make sure you raise hell on every form that pertains to these trucks too...

WOW!!!! A major design flaw? To have letters that are a little lose during the heat of the day? It's amazing they are not just flying off and hitting someone.

chevrolet letters do not come on the 14s. mine only has silverado on the 2 side doors and tailgate. and ltz letters on tailgate. must have been added..they are not factory.

Happened to mines too when I was waxing, but I just left it alone and anyways if it fell off just take it back to the dealer, and they'll replace it.

Both my 09 & 11 did the same thing. Never had any trouble with them, and plan to add them to my 06 after a paint job.
