Just Ordered My Truck!!

Just got done placing my order for my truck.

2014 Sierra slt crew cab w/ 6.2 every option I could want. Only thing I'm wondering if I should have ordered is the sunroof, but didn't think it was worth an extra thousand not knowing if I'd really want it or even use it. Only a thousand on a$50k truck but still, trying to keep it somewhat reasonable, especially when I'm lifting it when I get it, so every thousand counts I guess. Anyone think it's definitely worth getting?

Now the waiting game begins [emoji1] just hope to have it by winter time.

I didn't think you could order a 2015 with the 6.2 yet so it ordered a '14. I told the salesman I would like a '15 if at all possible tho and if they haven't started on mine by the time they start on the' 15s then I want that instead.

The waiting game before the real waiting game...

1. Order number from dealer.

2. Order to show up on GM order status web site while wondering if you got the right build number.

3. Check status web site every day for any change.

I'm still at #2 after three weeks. I'll wait another week or two and bug the dealer if they gave me the right order number (if still not showing up).

To be clear, I'm very aware this may take a while (2 to 4+ months). And I ordered a 2500HD which may be on a slower production cycle...

Personally I love my sliding rear window but I didn't want the sunroof. If you open it with the rear window open everything not nailed down blows around and out the rear window. Sounds like you ordered a great truck.

I asked the sales guy how I track my truck and he just said to call or text him, but once I get that order number I can just check it online is what it sounds like, right?

That's kind of what I was thinking. I got the sliding rear window too but figured the sunroof might be a little overkill.

I ordered my '14 with both the sunroof and sliding rear window. Every car I have owned previously had a sunroof, and I use it as much as possible, I don't think I could live without it even if I don't have any hair. Having said that, the Sierra sunroof has that mesh wind screen that pops up when you open the roof. My Jetta has it, it is can be noisy, but I will likely purchase a deflector for it.

2014 model 1500's are built out. Production starts 8/18/14 on 2015 CC's. 6.2L is on constraint because they all get the 8-sp trans and they are not geared up yet for them, will be phased in once production is ramped up.

What do you mean all built out? Mine will be a 2014 according to my paper work /build sheet. I would rather have a 2015 if it was possible. I wish we knew when the '15s were ready to go with 6.2

Built out means they are not accepting orders for 2014's anymore, as of May because they cannot get them built before the change over. On Aug 18th (week from tomorrow) they will be switching over to 2015 model year. If you just ordered it this past week, it won't be a 2014 UNLESS the dealer is looking for a truck in another dealers inventory.

I just ordered it yesterday. So I'm guessing it will be longer than the 12 weeks because I ordered it with the 6.2. So now I'll get a 2015 with the 8 speed?

You placed an order with a dealer but you have no way of knowing if that order was placed with GM? If it was he would have an order number for you on the spot.

2015 Chevrolet and GMC Pickups, SUVs to Offer Eight-Speed Transmission!

Chevrolet and GMC have confirmed a new eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard on 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra and GMC Yukon Denali/Yukon XL Denali models equipped with the 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8.

The GM-developed Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed is approximately the same size and weight as the Hydra-Matic 6L80 six-speed automatic. Its 7.0 overall gear ratio spread is wider than GM’s six-speed automatic transmissions, providing a numerically higher first gear ratio to help drivers start off more confidently with a heavy load or when trailering. The 8L90 also enables numerically lower rear axle ratios, which reduce engine rpm on the highway.

With 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, the 6.2L EcoTec3 V-8 is the most powerful engine offered in any light-duty pickup, and offers a maximum available trailer rating of 12,000 pounds, based on SAE J2807 Recommended Practices. As with other EcoTec3 engines, it seamlessly switches to four-cylinder operation under lighter loads to improve fuel economy.

Additional technical details and the EPA estimated fuel economy will be announced closer to the start of production in the fourth quarter of 2014.
