Silverado 4.3 V6 Oil Consumption Issue

2002 SILVERADO 4.3 V6

I've been wanting to start modding my truck! but I can't until this issue is fixed... or I know more about it.

The previous of owner was a hardcore Mobil1 Full Syntheitc fan. I bought it switched to PenZoil 5-30 Blended Synthetic. I bought the truck with 137K, changed the oil to PenZoil a few days after. Some from 137k to 141k I had a front seal leak, I fixed it. So after changing at 141k, I had a Check Engine Oil level light come on, oil was low, topped off, this was at 143k. I do notice some oil resdue/stains at the rear main seal.. but it looks small. There is no smoke either.

So... Is it burning oil, is it normal, is it the rear main seal, or a little bit everything.. And if it is the rear main seal can I just use some addetive?

I love my truck, even if it's a V6 it's badass, I come from a Ford V8 loving family and they keep talking shit, but my truck is always turning heads... I gotta get this issue fixed.

Get rid of the pennzoil, i know supposedly there's no difference but my 5.3 drinks pennzoil (i used it once). I normally run Valvoline 10w30 Maxlife (red bottle) and have very little consumption on that.

I went to the store today to pick up oil, have no idea which one is best. There is 5-30 Mobil1 for HIGH MILIAGE vehicles then one that says it does what PenzzOil Platniumn does that has the Dexos Label. The Mobil1 High Miliage one doesn't have the dexos label does this shit even matter?

Mobil oils are dexos approved

Your truck is a 2002 and does not require a dexos approved oil the dexos spec didn't start until I believe 2011
