Did a quick google search and came up with this in Louisville. http://www.tonysbrake.com/tire-truing.aspx

Good find. Yep, looks like Tony's knows what he is talking about. With Truing, even thought they shave a small amount of rubber in the high areas, you will get more miles out of the tires. I was told because of the tries rolling smoother on the road. Still needs a good balance and on the truck is better than road force, if you can find it.

I dropped my truck off at the dealer exactly a week ago today. Just heard back from them this afternoon....the Vibration Analysis Tool definitely showed significant vibrations, but could not pinpoint the location of the vibrations. They switched out the driveshaft, but it did not change anything. The service adviser then told me that him and the service manager have been working closely with GM on the issue, but GM wants the dealer to have their Road-Force balancing machine "re-calibrated" before they take any additional steps????? WTF. Seems like the run around to me. They have already RF balanced the wheels/tires twice and replaced the wheels and tire from my original set, which only had 1500 miles on them. I told the service manager that the problem is most likely coming from the rear (axles per the Shake/Vibration Thread), but they didnt seem to think that is the issue. They told me they will need the truck for a few more days, maybe even another week before they can have this Machine updated.......This sh** never seems to stop. On a side note, it does seem like the Service Adviser and Manager are on my side and feel like GM is giving them the run-around too. He just told me they "have to follow GM's protocols".......

Sounds like mine , been in for a week and have done nothing but vibration analysis. Now they admit it vibrates but don't know what to do except keep it a few more days and probably do nothing.

Im looking at having the EVA done next week. They just told me that a tech would ride along with me and I needed to demonstrate the vibe. Any details from someone that has been through it would be helpful.

So, I went in for the appt at my selling dealer for the EVA that GM cust service set up for me. This is the selling dealer that looked at my truck three times for the vibe and refused to look at it again for it.

I show up for the EVA and a service tech climbs in my truck. NO EVA, nothing electronic at all, just a person. So, we get in the interstate and I show him the vibe. He feels it and says so to me. Says its bad and agrees with me that is unacceptable. He thinks its tires.

So we go back and he tells his boss, serv manager, that the vibe DOES exist. The serv manager tells me that he wants to fix the vibe by installing new Michelins on my truck under warranty. I said fine. I will pick it up tomorrow.

Please let us know if putting the Michelins on improves anything. I have the exact same deal going right now with my Dealer and the tires are going to be put on Wednesday if GM approves. They are also replacing the exhaust for the whistle sound I get when accelerating.

The new Michelins are quieter than the Goodyears.

The vibration is unchanged. Took a 100 mile test drive and feel no difference in the vibration. Its just as strong and pronounced as ever.

Not only that, but they ruined my factory 20" aluminum wheels and lug nuts. Scratched the bee jeezus out of the wheels around the lug area through the clear coat, and scratched up the ends of the chrome lug nuts.

Un-****in-believable.

I dealt with the same excuses about the rf machine. I suggested they take my truck to another GM dealer which they did and got the same unacceptable results. My advise is to keep a good working relationship with your service adviser and manager because they will be your best advocates when it comes to a buy back, trade assist, lemon law, etc. After several months of service visits and dealing with the vibration problem I filed a lemon law and was approved for a replacement vehicle. After GM received the lemon notice they conducted a phone interview with my service adviser and service manager, both of whom were on my side and expressed to GM corporate that the vibration was unacceptable and they didn't know how to fix it. This was helpful because the next step was for my truck to be worked on by a GM engineer who was completely one sided and said there was nothing wrong which was an obvious lie.

Thanks for the advice. Just got a call yesterday from the service adviser saying that GM wants to buy my truck back MSRP or MSRP. Now I just have to figure out if I get another 14 or get a 15. Still waiting to hear from the dealer on all the details of the buy back. I started a new thread here on it http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/165711-should-i-go-with-another-2014-or-wait-for-a-2015-sierra/

Thanks again!

After the Michelins didnt work, I sent GM the Final Repair Opportunity letter.

When I dropped it off at my selling dealer for the final repair, they said they had a GM field engineer coming in to test the truck.

The dealership said they got a picoscope analyzer to find the vibration. I wasnt present for any of the analysis and I wanst given any numbers or figures about the vibration.

They had it for a few days and I got a call that it was ready. I went in and test drove it with the service manager. They had taken off the new Michelins and put my factory Goodyears back on. I asked why and was told the Michelins werent rated for the factory tow pkge and the GYs were. Right.

As we got on the interstate, I felt the vibe right away. I pointed it out to the service manager and he said he didnt feel a thing, that it was smooth. He denied feeling any vibration during the whole 35 mile drive. We took it back and he asked me to leave it with them again. I agreed and reminded him he had 14 days to fix it under state lemon law.

A week and a half later, another call, truck is ready again. I went in and test drove it again with the same service manager. Once again I felt the vibe as soon as we hit the interstate. Once again he denied feeling anything. I took him back and took my viberado home.

The next day he emailed me the service record. The record shows the entire two weeks consisted of taking off the new Michelins, RF balancing the factory GY tires, replacing two tires and RF balancing again. Amazing. Nothing mentioned about vibration analysis.

The factory 20" polished wheels that they scratched and gouged when they originally installed the Michelins? They actually have MORE scratches and gouges on them.

I asked the service manager WHY they didnt replace the wheels when it sat there for two weeks?

His answer. "Oh, we are going to polish those for you". Right. Didnt think to do that while it sat here two weeks? Huh? Didnt occur to you? Huh? Un facking believable.

I will never recommend this dealer for anything ever again. They were great with my last Silverado, but I had ZERO problems with it.

Now Ive seen what happens at this dealer when you DO have a problem.

Incompetent buffoons.

Has anyone had any luck??? I had mine done and they put " GM certified perfect tires" on the truck which is just another set of Goodyear ls2 and a new rim and it still shakes. Now what do I do???

It **seems** like most of the trucks with 20's vibrate bad. My first 14 was BAD over 72 and they replaced the whole rear drivetrain with no fix. The only thing in common was the rims.... My second has 0 vibrations and has 18's. At one point, my Chevy couldn't order 20's in any rim because they were "having issues".

I have a 14 Silverado Lt with the rally package with 22s and bridgestone duelers... been in the shop 3 times for a vibration at 40-50 and then at 80 and at 80 was pretty bad...so I take it in and the service manager ask me if it only happened when it dropped from 8 to 4 cylinders and I said no...and he says thats what it sounds like to me...then he says they will balance the tires tomorrow and gets me a rental "car"...he calls me the next day and says that they cant balance 2 of the tires and has to order them and wont be in till Monday and its now Wednesday...so I go pick it up on Monday take a look at the truck and see a ungodly amount of weight on one of the rims...so i jump on the turnpike and there it is the vibration but now its from 75 to 85...so now its back at the dealer and who knows what there gonna do now..but they did give me a new truck for a loaner...
