Exhaust Tip Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Wrong size. UGH! I even confirmed it with AutoAnything before ordering. 5.3L Sierra actually needs a 2.75" inlet, not 3". Have to find a FedEx store to ship it back and wait for the right size now.

Go outside and measure the pipe instead of confirming with a Company that only collects your $. It only takes 2 minutes to measure the exhaust pipe man!!! If your gonna work on your truck do a little more research.

Just drew this up in Solidworks real quick yesterday. I'll have to tweek it a little before i cnc machine it though. It's too heavy as it sits @ 1.83lbs. I might switch it around so it can sit in front of the rear tire.

Spoken like a machinist. LOL. It takes one to know one. :D

We'll take a sheetmetal part and make it a machined part...

You guys think I'm crazy for wanting to put the stock tip on the hd diesels on my 1500? I think it looks stock but still beefy.

Trying to find a tip is been so difficult. I know there are hd owners who have changed their tips

Nothing better than being able to make your own "works" parts that nobody else can get. Then someone asks you to make them one and they crap their pants when you tell them "sure, that'll be $3,000".

Really? You felt the need to give me grief about this? It was late at night when I ordered it and figured I could trust an auto parts customer service dept to help me get the right size. Go pound sand, RT.

What did you do to make a 3" ID exhaust tip work on a 2.75" pipe??

I noticed you used a 3" and Sierra_64 used a 2.5"??

Can't answer that one. My exhaust shop did it.

Hmmm.. alright. Any chance of getting a picture from underneath?

From underneath it looks like a different tip than the one I linked to. The shop guy said he got it from Red Tail Performance.

did this go onto you stock tail pipe?

I think it did. My exhaust shop did the work so I don't know the details, part number, etc.
