JKeshler23
My dash alerted me to a rear left directional failure and started flashing faster than normal. However when I get out and check it the light is actually blinking just faster than usual..... What's going on here??
fondupot
Check your fuses. That's what they will do when a fuse is bad.
JKeshler23
The ones in the panel on the drivers side?
jay15892
Sounds like one of front or rear bulbs is bad. Remember there are two in the taillight that act as brake and turn signals and two in the front yellow markers..
JKeshler23
The indash display says it's the rear directional

JKeshler23
The bulb still works though....it just flashes real fast
redwngr
Compare the lh and rh. Likely one bulb not working. Fast flash has been a bulb indicator on a gm for years.
JKeshler23
It's not the headlight.... It says rear left directional
redwngr
Compare the lh and rh. Likely one bulb not working. Fast flash has been a bulb indicator on a gm for years. Left hand and right hand rear directional signals
jimlem
It's not the headlight.... It says rear left directional What more do you need? It's telling what's wrong. Why are you trying eliminate every other bulb 1st? It's the left, rear, turn signal bulb. It's even flashing it for you incase you do not know left from right or front from rear. Just change it.
fondupot
check the mother effing fuse man. If its not the fuse, its the bulb. Then just replace the bulb. simple check the manual for the fuse location, but its probably the one inside the cab on the driver side Edited March 14, 2015 by fondupot
Nickshu
I have had other cars w/ this bulb monitoring system. They measure resistance between the bulb filaments left to right. When there is a difference the alert is activated. If one filament is weak, but not burnt out yet, you will get an alert. Always change both left and right bulbs to get the same resistance otherwise the alert can continue even though you installed a new bulb on the bad side. Check the fuse too. JKeshler23
Ok so I changed both rear directional bulbs and checked both of the fuses (which are both good) and it still does it. I also unhooked the battery and reconeccted it. I have no idea what to do now... wtf
