Should I replace the rubber end caps?

On my 09 Silverado, when you raise the hood, there are two rubber/plastic pieces up near the cowl/grille at the bottom of the windshield that have slits in them for the hinge to slide up into.

I was looking at these and the rubber is getting really soft and almost gooey. When I touch them my fingers turn black from the rubber coming off.

It is almost as if they were soaked in some type of chemical and the rubber is starting to liquify.

The truck is only 6 years old, and these are probably getting weathered.

Anyone else have these falling apart on them.

Saw this post because I have the same issue I know it's been a couple years and I see nobody has replied to this and I don't know if you're even still member or even if we'll look at this but I have part numbers for this part.

I know this is an Old Post from 2 years ago almost but I am replacing the same thing I just bought a truck and the rubber pieces are gone so I just bought a couple from gmpartsdirect place.
