rmart Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 If you have the Z71 badges on the front fenders, what color is the inset on the 'Z'? Also, do you have a Z71 emblem on your tachometer? I was just noticing that the Chevy Z71s have a red 'Z' on the fender badge and have a Z71 emblem on the tach. The Sierras that I've seen do not. Just curious.
Sierra Boy Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I will look at mine tomorrow...2015 Sierra 2500 HD SLT Z71 Sierra Boy
thewhitestallion Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 the gmc z71 logo I had on my FRONT fender was all chrome, I paid extra for the z71 sticker on the bed and that is like a gray color. a gmc z71 WITHOUT the all terrain package does no have any special gauge overlay unless you get the "All Terrain" package, but it will not have the z71 it will just say all terrain (I believe someone will correct me if im wrong). the chevy's are different. if you get the z71 package then you get the carbon fiber overlay and a z71 logo since chevy does not have an "All Terrain" package.
Brian S. Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 I have an iridium 2015 SLE Z71, the chrome emblem on the front fender has a grey inlay, no rear sticker, no tach emblem.
POS VETT Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Mine is a '15 Sierra 1500 Z71 2WD. The Z71 emblem on the fenders have a light gray inset. There is no Z71 logo on the tachometer fascia.
rmart Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 Wait... the 2wd version comes with a Z71 package? Things have changed. The Z71 package used to mean 4x4 off road, locking rear end, special shocks, and skid plates at the oil pan and the transfer case. The 2wd version used to be called the Z66 IIRC. What's the difference now between the regular 4x4 and the Z71 4x4? Oh, and while we're at it, what does the All Terrain package have that the Z71 doesn't? Thanks, R
POS VETT Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Z71 is mostly a suspension package and is not tied to the drivetrain type; it has been the case since, at least, GMT800. Z66 is a premium or soft ride package and depending on the truck or the SUV base, it includes self-leveling rear dampers. Mine has the skid plates, Rancho dampers, automatic-locking diff (also included with a tow package and several other packages), emblems/badges, etc. All Terrain is mostly appearance on top of Z71. It's like a mix of SLE & SLT with HID headlights, emblems, different color scheme, interior trim, etc.
fondupot Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 My All Terrain doesnt have any fender badges, but it has an "All Terrain" badge on the front doors. And then Z71 4x4 decals on the bed. Cant remember if the tach has a Z71 emblem, but I think it says Z71 or All Terrain.
rmart Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 All Terrain has HID headlights? I wonder if they would fit into my SLT and fix my crappy headlights problem.
POS VETT Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 It's the same headlights used on SLT and Denali trim levels.
OmniGLH Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Yep 2015 Z71 Sierra here (non-All Terrain) - badge on the fender is chrome. No extra badges/stickers/decals anywhere else (dash, bed, etc.)
fondupot Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 So, not HIDs, just projectors. All the Sierra trucks have projectors. the only difference is SLT and up trims have the LED accented DRL. None have HID's from the factory. They are an HIR bulb, which is a halogen.
redwngr Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Inset is grey/silver. Sierra's don't get the front grill or dash z71 labels. Rear fender decals are options. SB7 LPO, bedside decal, Z71, (dealer-installed) - Requires (Z71) Off-Road Suspension Package. Not available with (SF8) Z71/4x4 bedside decal, LPO or (SB9) 4x4 bedside decal, LPO. SB9 LPO, bedside decal, 4x4, (dealer-installed) - Requires 4x4 models. Not available with (SB7) Z71 bedside decal, LPO or (SF8) Z71/4x4 bedside decal, LPO. -- SF8 LPO, Z71/4WD bedside decal, (dealer-installed) - Requires 4x4 models and (Z71) Off-Road Suspension Package. The G-Man Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Here is a picture of the badge on a black truck: As you can see the Z is a deep gray, but the rest is left as an outline with the paint color underneath providing the pop.
