Dave95625 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I have an 03 Suburban which has decided it does not want to start unless it feels like it. Occasionally when you turn the key, the lights, power, all the accessories come on but nothing when you try to start. After letting it sit for anywhere from an hour or sometimes overnight it cranks right up. Have changed the ignition switch, the starter, the relays for starter fuel pump and ignition. Each time it seems to help for a short period of time then up and decide not to start again. PLEASE HELP
Chevy Joe Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Hi Dave, Could it be a flukey neutral safety switch ? Try holding the key in the start position and then jiggle the shifter (jiggle a bit in park, then try around neutral) Also I believe there is a switch at the brake pedal, you can tell if it is working if you can't move out of park without pressing the brake GOOD LUCK !! Joe
Cosmic Charlie Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Try starting in Neutral ... aftermarket remote start can be a prob, if it does or ever had one ...
NEFisher11 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Sounds like a passlock issue if your suburban is equipped with it. Had the same issue with my 2005 Colorado.

If it is the "resistor in the key" type the error would show up in a dash light, if its the key with the "+" sign in a circle the error would show up in the display
Dave95625 Posted April 8, 2015 Author Posted April 8, 2015 Thanks, Have tried playing with the shifter to see if the neutral switch could be it, no such luck, tried to jiggle it in and out of park and neutral. Doesn't come out of park without pressing the brake pedal. It has never had a remote start that I know of. I'm not sure about the passcode or passkey, will investigate that today. I really appreciate the the replies, I have been running out of ideas. LOL Dave
gmtech4 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 You need a schematic and experience to back track to the problem , I think you've thrown enough parts at it
