Drivetrain difference between 6.0 and Dmax on 11-14' models?

Obviously the Allison Vs 6l90.

What about the rear/front end and transfer case?

On 2500hd:

 

Gas is 10.5" 14 bolt full float axle.

 

Diesel is 11.5" 14 bolt full float axle.

 

Gas depending on cab config plow prep front ratings are 5200-5600lbs.

 

Diesel all cabs are 6000lbs front ratings plow prep.

 

Front diff are the same either engine.

 

Transfer case on diesel has a heavier duty chain and I think the gear set as well. The case they are in is the same.

 

Diesel is 3.73 gears only. Gas is 3.73 or 4.10. 4.10 gains average of around 4000lbs towing vs. 3.73 gas.

 

If you are eyeing 3500hd, the rear axle for both engines is the 11.5".
