Heated Cloth Seats in LS?

Recommended Posts

No, if you want heated seats, you will have to remove the seats to install the heating kit. Which is not hard to accomplish and there are kits on Amazon for reasonable prices.

I had the local Chevy dealer install heated front seat kits in my mom's 08 Equinox for her birthday present. She lives in Pa and I'm down in NC. She loves them. Only issue is the passenger side seat can't be heated due to the air bag switch. Only the back of the passenger side seat can get a heating element.

You don't need heated or cooled seats if you have cloth seats. I have never felt the seats hot or cold in my '14 or my old 98 which both have cloth seats. Doesn't matter if it's 100 outside and even hotter in the truck where the windows were up all day, or below 0. That's one of the reasons why I prefer cloth over leather.

You don't have to buy entire seats out of a different truck. Much more to it than that.

Have your dealer check with their local GM Acessories Distributor Installer and see if they offer anything. GM does not make a kit. Would be aftermarket. They add them into your existing seats.

I originally thought the same thing. But my wife's Traverse has heated cloth seats, and she won't have it any other way now! She didn't want leather either for the same reasons as you. In the winter, the remote start gets the seats warm, and it's awesome to hop in when it's toasty! Personally, I don't want/need the heated seats. I will say the lumbar heat is nice on a road trip as it helps keep my back loose. My ripe old age of 30 can definitely feel the difference! Maybe it's the 3 kids that cause the tension.....

While I was never big on heated seats, I've had them in the last 5 vehicles now and like them in the winter time.

From the order guide:

Available on LT:

A95 Seats, front cloth bucket with (KA1) heated seat cushions and seat backs. Includes 10-way power driver and 6-way power front passenger seat adjusters, including driver/front passenger power recline and driver/front passenger power lumbar. Also includes adjustable head restraints, (D07) floor console and storage pockets.

Does NOT show as available on LS, so it would seem that heated cloth requires LT

I'm also 30 and just don't see the need for heated or cooled seats on cloth. Would they still help? I'm positive, but it's nothing that is needed. My cloth seats have never felt uncomfortable when it comes to hot or cold. Leather seats on the other hand I can understand wanting heated or cooled seats, but I just don't care for leather either way. Cloth just seems to last longer. Leather I know is easier to clean, but I'd rather have something that last longer than easier to clean. The cloth seats in my 98 were in almost perfect condition when I got rid of it last year. The only "damage" was where someone who had it before me dropped a cig on the driver seat and put a hole in it. The other was just where one of the pieces on the side (they were buckets) had a lot of wear but wasn't coming apart, was just dark.

Now I wouldn't mind a heated steering wheel, but again not a must. I might consider switching out the steering wheel for a heated one down the road, but isn't a must to do right away.

Would it help? YES! I thought the same thing as you about cloth seats. I love them, and never think that they are hot or cold. I only rarely use the heated seats in the winter, or on long road trips. The heat just provides a lil quick relief in the frigid months....but obviously nothing I couldn't survive without.

Is it a make or break on the overall happiness of the vehicle....nope. But it is a nice bonus if you do have it!

I added heated seats when I bought my LT truck because it didn't come pre-installed and they're being done Friday. Yes, the Chevy dealer uses an outside vendor to do it for them. I think they said on the aftermarket version you only get the passenger side backrest heated due to something to do with the airbag detector. We'll see. So you can have them installed into any trim, just not from the factory.
