2015 silverado OEM trailer brake controller

I got a Reese with the Reese harness that plugs directly into the fuse box.  Pulled the side of the dash ran the wires down and 3m double sided taped it to the dash.  Nice and easy reach.

After clicking on the actual YouTube link, it appears this is only for GMT-900 trucks.  Still nothing for K2XX.

I understand that you cannot add an OEM IBC.

 

I was wondering if anyone came across a situation where they had a wiring harness at the rear bumper for the 7-way, "Tow/Haul" button on shift lever, and the wiring behind the cubby for the IBC. The sticker stated that it had the tow package, but i had to install the 7-Way, and hitch receiver. I have a '17 Silverado 1500 WT. Kind of hoping I get lucky. . Could anyone tell me what to look for and where to determine if I could install the IBC? Is there a specific RPO to look for?

RPO for factory controller

JL1 - TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER

If you don’t have this RPO it ain’t going to work. Even though the wiring is there for it.

 

RPO for tow package 

Z82 - TRAILERING EQUIPMENT PKG INCL: AUTO LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL

 

So you can have the factory tow package without the factory controller.  My truck for example is a LT AllStar package. Non Z71 AllStars come standard with the tow package but not the controller.

Has anyone tried to take an aftermarket TBC controller and wire it into the OEM IBC? Maybe, find one with a round display and put it into a gauge mount on the upright by the winshield???
