Tonneau Cover Reviews - What to buy

Recommended Posts

Hello all: I have two 2006 Silverados. One has canopy with bed rug to haul the pack of dogs (3) we have. The other has a spray in liner and bare bed.

Looking to getting a tonneau cover to cover the fishing items, food from grocery shopping, home depot items etc... Live in Washington state so it never rains here. Well not for the last 3 weeks. So no leaking when installed.

So I have been looking online as well as here and soooo many variations. Roll up, tri fold and OMG manufacturers galore.

So what would be best for a guy that is older and bad back that cant lift much if I needed to take tonneau off to get a load of rock for son to unload taller items in bed etc?

Want something good but don't want to spend a fortune either.

Can we get a poll going and post info so I can get a good tonneau at a reasonable price.

Thanks all.

My pickup came with an Access soft cover on it, Larado model I believe... I'm very happy with it. For me a soft cover is perfect since I can just roll it up whenever I don't want the bed covered. I've had the setup for 4 years and have yet to have an issue. I think the soft covers are hard to beat, value-wise.

Some people have told me the soft covers flop and are noisy when going down the highway. Anyone have any input on the noise?

I really like my Extang Revolution. It's been through 3 Michigan winters and still looks great. The cover, frame and most other parts have a lifetime warranty.

I highly recommend it!

Like I said, no issues. The Access has bars that run across. I'll try and get some pics tomoro.

I have a Truxedo Lo Pro QT and love it. I have had it on several trucks and it still looks like new. Easy fast installation and removal with no tools, lifetime warranty, it rolls up and no noise on the highway. Even though the 2014 bed was slightly changed, the cover that was on my 2008, 2012 and 2013 fit pretty well on my 2014.

I have a Truxedo "Truxport" roll-up on my '06 that sets on top of the bed rails. Never noticed any noise but can see it flop a little in the rearview mirror but never has been an issue.

Has been on the truck since new, no problems.

Sorry it took me a while to get pics... Yes it's dirty, the pickup has been parked outside and I'm not exactly meticulous about keeping the bed or cover clean. The cover has been on the pickup for no less than 4 years, I'm going to assume the cover has been on since new.

Cover rolled up, with straps:

The velcro is faded but still works securely.

View of the main latch and one of the crossbars. There is another "backup" latch on the other side.

thanks to all that sent and posted info on Tonneau Covers. I finally decided on the Truxedo Low Pro QT. Installed and all looks good. they all advertise gas mileage improved 10%. Don't believe it but will see. 15.8 MPG at present.

Anyone get the tailgate seal to go with their tonneau covers? Is it worth it.
