Rear end ubolts

Recommended Posts

Have a 2015 4X4 DC. Checked the rear end ubolts. The torque was 55 ft. lbs. with weight on the wheels. I have heard they should be around 75 lbs. Was wondering what they should be and do you have to have all the weight off the wheels to torque them.

Thanks

Jim.

just curious why you were checking the u bolts? Have an issue?

They need to be 78, at least that's what I read on here. I had a clunking sometimes when giving it throttle. TQed the nuts down to 78 (had to do at least a full turn on all of them) and haven't heard a clunk yet. I kept the truck's weight on the wheels.

Specs from GM;

Rear Spring Shackle Nuts: First Pass = 85 lb ft. Final Pass = additional 90 degrees.

Rear Spring Anchor Plate Nuts: First Pass = 59 lb ft. Final Pass = additional 130 degrees.

Little clunk that I just wanted to check. Not sure if it worked yet. Someone mentioned that theirs was one whole turn below spec. Just wondering. I think it was SoutherSilveradoGuy who posted it.
