new (K2XX) vs used (GMT900)

Hello everyone,

I posted a similar question in the K2XX forums, but it was more of is the K2XX really that much better than the GMT900. I have been going back and fourth between buying a 2-3 year old moderate-highly optioned GMT900 or buying a lower optioned K2XX. I've been looking at loaded 2010-13's SLE's and LT's vs a 2015 Silverado LS Custom package. Has anyone gone though a similar deal trying to decide if it is worth it to spend a few grand more to buy new? I was taught in my college business courses that to let someone else take the deprecation hit on the vehicle than buy it used, but it seems like the gap between new and used is very close.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. I decided to go with a '13 Silverado LT with 26k on it and not look back. I owned an '07 GMT 900 in the past and really liked the truck, thought having the last year of a model was nice too. Typically most all issues have been worked on and parts updated by then. Really my deciding factors were the extra 5-10k I needed to buy the same truck in the new body style and the fact that I already knew this body style front and back from owning one. It is nice to drive something you know about and can work on.

I'm happy with my decision. You just really need to decide if you want the new body style that bad or if you can take the older body style and be happy. Both are good trucks, both have their issues.

obviously the newer trucks are better and have better features but all that really matters is how much you want to pay, if you want to pay more and have a nicer and or newer truck get a new one. if you want to save some coin and dont need a truck with the newer features, there are a lot of clean newer GMT900's at the dealers around me. and yes, newer vehicles are a waste of money, you can get a clean low mileage older truck or car that will last just as long as a new one and do the same things and save 10 to 15k, but everyone can do whatever they choose with their money

I just went through the same thing a couple months ago and bought a 13 GMC Sierra SLT,loaded. For a LOT less that I could have bought the new one for with less options. No regrets here. Still,it's nice to have a new one also. I have went both ways at different times.
