Popping noise from rear when turning... bed not level!

I'm new to this forum, and didn't seem to find any topics describing exactly what I've got going on. If there is one, could someone just post a link?

Anyways, I have a 2006 Silverado 1500 that has developed a popping almost creaking type noise when I'm turning. It's coming from the rear end. When I looked at it, the only thing I noticed was that the bed is about 1/4 inch - 1/2 inch above where it should sit. I dont drive it very often these days, but since my daily driver has been in the shop I've been using the truck and, I've noticed the noise to be consant (i.e. very easy to replicate.). The only work that has been done in the rear end since I've owned it (30K Miles) was a hub bearing replacement on the drivers side. Any ideas? Thanks
