2015 Allison Transmission screw on type external oil filter

Hey folks ive heard that theres an external screw on type oil filter on the Allison trans that they say has to be changed at or before 15,000km (9320mi) or it will void the Allison warranty just wondering if anyone has any insite on this prior to stopping by the dealer

Don't know about voiding the warranty...I would change it as it's an 11.00 part on amazon. Keep the receipt and record the mileage and your good to go. Super easy to change as well...

Owners manual says 45,000 miles normal or severe service change filter.

 

PS - There is no Allison warranty, Allison is no longer part of GM . GM got the rights to build the Allison 1000 Series transmission in GM factories as part of the sale of Allison away from GM. GM installs the Allison 1000 Series into their HD pickup trucks and warranties it, not Allison.

Ok perfect thats good to know and saves me a trip to the dealer to ask a question that they would go into this big explanation thats not needed

Pretty positive the Allison 1000 is still made in Indy at the Allison plant.

They are all built in Baltimore, Maryland. GM owns the plant.

I would change the filter within the first 6k miles or so...Gets rid of the initial wear particles. After that I usually replace them every 30K...

i change mine every 15k as well as most others with allisons, very easy to do but make sure you clean the magnet off good and also fill the filter back up with fluid or you will loose all the fluid that was in the filter.
