Weird Issue: Power Locks have a mind of their own

2105 Silverado double cab. A week ago I noticed the power locks automatically lock immediately when I place the truck in drive. Previously the door locks would lock not when I put it in drive but instead when I reached 10 miles an hour. I figured I must have changed some setting, but I haven't played with the settings at all. The truck was in service a week ago so I was thinking maybe the dealer changed something.

Now today I got in the truck, put it in gear( its automatic transmission) and the locks didn't lock until the truck was going around 10 miles an hour! Yesterday it locks when tranny is put in drive, today when it gets up to 10 MPH.

I didn't change a thing!

I read the owners manual and it says:

The doors will lock automatically when all doors are closed, the

ignition is on, and the shift lever is moved out of P (Park) for automatic transmissions and vehicle speed is

above 13 km/h (8 mph) for manual transmissions.

Anybody experience this?

Mine lock when I put it in drive. I don't remember seeing a setting for configuring that either.

The crystal ball tells me that the 2105 Silverados change settings according to time of day, tide, and moon phase.... :D

My 2015 locks the doors as soon as I take it out of park.

Actually the 2105 operate on thought control...OP must be thinking about doors locking at different times. :)

My 2015 also lock immediately when going out of P.

There's a methane sensing switch in the seat. When you're full of crap, the truck knows and the doors lock immediately on putting the truck in gear. Mine lock when I approach the vehicle.

Side step: any way to defeat the auto lock feature on the K-2s? On my 09, had to do some programing gymnastics to defeat the auto lock. Had to do it as the locks are so noisy when locking. Oh and I also felt the auto lock was a pita.

Do you put the vehicle in drive with your door(s) still open? if so then the door locks will not lock if the door is open. If you do it that way then the locks will lock once you reach the 10mph mark.

If the door is closed when you take the vehicle out of park then the door locks will lock automatically.

Good Question. I am belted in and door is closed before I move the truck's tranny out of Park. Your question makes me think perhaps there is a door sensor that is not working.

I think that the truck thinks it is a manual transmission sometimes as manual tranny trucks lock at 10 mph according to the owner's manual.
