At 7,000 miles, my truck has changed. For the good...

I have been an outspoken critic about the sluggish performance of my truck since I bought it. For whatever reason, in the last couple weeks my truck is running way better than the first 5,000 miles. It actually feels sporty and much more fun to drive now! I realize that these computer controlled vehicles "learn" how you drive and adjust to it, but I really can't say I've altered the way I drive. It just seems to have gotten it's act together. The transmission shifting could still be better, but at this point I'm much happier with the truck. Still contemplating a tuner, but not feeling the need as much as I was. :driving:

I feel the same about mine. I have 8400 miles and for about the last 2 weeks I have been driving in m5 and tow haul some now when I go back to drive it seem much more responsive my just be in my head.

7,000 miles is when mine loosened up and came to life, night and day difference.

I believe after a few thousand mile break in period a heavy WOT tow season really helps to bring it to life.

Almost 19,000 on mine, and it's still a complete slug. I wish I could be so lucky to have mine "learn."

That will do the trick .....but it sucks to spend extra dough because some are slugs put out by the factory

I think a big part of it is conditioning your foot to the gas pedal. It feels sluggish because the pedal isn't linear like older trucks, so you learn to go a little deeper on the gas to get a better response. I have to be REAL careful when I drive my wife's older Yukon because if I don't I'll punch the gas and launch us forward unintentionally. She's yelled at me a couple of times for giving the whole family whiplash, but it's just the difference in throttle response.

I have to totally agree with the OP. My truck has about 7,700 miles on it now and it has also got much more responsive. It does not shift as hard as it used to (but it still has its moments between 1st and 2nd), seems to stay in the right lower gear for a longer period of time and most importantly the throttle response has improved quite a bit. The throttle response is not me getting used to it because I only drive my truck once, maybe twice a week. My ford work truck has great throttle response and the better half's jeep also has good throttle response so when I would get in my truck it used to feel like I was going to get ran over pulling out into traffic. The throttle is now much improved but still not as good as I think it should be. I still get the annoying vibrations that seem to just pop up when they want to, especially after the truck has been sitting for a week. I put 200 miles on it yesterday riding around the hills of SWVA and the truck was damn near perfect in both power delivery and smoothness. Still can't tune in my favorite FM radio stations though but that is another problem to deal with.

Yup I've got right around 6000 miles on my truck and I feel it is getting more responsive as well. Shifts are pretty decent unless I'm trying to drive around at 20mph. I don't have any vibrations (knock on wood), or other major problems. I've had the seat shifting and dim headlights issues fixed by the dealer. I am waiting to hear from the body shop on my frame coating fix though.

Overall though, I'm still very happy. Took my truck on a 400km trip and averaged about 25 MPG, and my best 100km was 28.5 MPG.
