Pic Request for 275/60/20 vs 275/65/20 BFG KO2

Recommended Posts

After a few weeks of having my 275/65-20s, I've noticed a drop in my mpg by about 2. I didn't lose any when I leveled it or when I removed my air dam, but the tires did it. I did notice that before I installed the tires my truck went into V4 mode a lot, mostly because how I drive. But now it almost never goes into V4 mode. I think having more weight and size causes the engine to be under more load preventing V4. Even when going down a hill and with me letting of the gas it doesn't seem to want to go into V4. I'm still glad I went with this size, i love the way it looks. Just something for future buyers to think about.

I wonder if there's something that can be calibrated with the tranny or ecu to change that.

I have been looking at the Toyo Open Country A/T II in P275/60/R20 and they are 43 lbs: https://www.toyotires.com/tire/pattern/open-country-at-ii-on-off-road-all-terrain-tires

I am going with Nitto Terra Grappler G2 275/60/20 they weigh 41 lbs. Very sexy tire

I like the look of these definitely similar to the BFG's, but where do you see the weight listed? I do see they come in 275/65/20 and these will def be on my short list.Really coming down to these, BFG KO2's, and Terra grappler G2

Actually found it - Toyo open country AT2's in 275/60/20 weigh in @ 43.4 lbs while the 275/65/20 is an E rated LT tire and the weight jumps way up to 56.7 lbs.....I really want a 275/65 but don't want that penalty of lower mpg's/performance....need to find a an AT tire that weighs under 50 lbs in 275/65/20 not E rated...possible/??

To TIG488 - do you have 5.3 or 6.2? What gearing? I would expect adding nearly 20lbs unsprung weight to each corner is going to have an effect

Go with Terra Grappler G2 275/60/20. They weigh 41 lbs. Very sexy tire it's also a 33" tire.

I like the look and run nitto NT05 street drag radials on my Vette- great bang for the buck rubber, but I really want a full 1" of height so 275/65/20 is what I'm after I can't seem to find a rugged looking/performing tire in that size under 50 lbs- I thought the toyo open country AT fit the bill come to find out the "best looking" version they always show is the "extreme" and doesn't come in 275/65 or 275/60

I may go w/ the G2s in 275/60 as you suggest since it seems that's the only option, and the price is nice compared to others, but I imagine they're pretty soft and will wear fast. My consolation is I run snow tires for 3-4 months of the year and splitting up the mileage like that really extends the life of the tire

I live in Colorado and I've been doing the same thing your doing. I finally decided on G2 in a the 275/70/20 for weight looks and snow performer. I'm order in a set of ck158 wheels in a 20" to put the tires on. Good luck and send pics after you find the right one.

Will probably end up w/ the Nitto G2's 275/60 - but won't be running in the winter/snow. I am sure they'd be OK (def better than the Wrangler SRA's), but I run snow tires/wheels in the winter (see pic) Michelin X-Ice 275/55r20 - can't beat a dedicated winter/snow tire.

I just had my 275/60R20 KO2's installed yesterday on my truck. Absolutely love them. Quiet as the SRA's and I really can't tell much of a difference in handling on pavement. Hopefully I'll be able to take some pics this weekend and post them up.

I have Bilstein 5100's installed on the max setting and I don't think I could have gone 275/65R20 without some rubbing.

I currently am driving on 265/70R16 on my '04 Silverado reg cab 4x2. I live in WI. What size tires should I look for and can I put 17 in wheels on it? I can't afford new tires and 17 in ones are much easier to find. I have found some tire/rim combos reasonably priced but all are 17's. I am looking to get info on what size tire would be best. If I stay with 16's should I get narrower tires? Driving in snow is a major consideration. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I have a stock 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 slt preferred package. Time to get new tires and the Mickey Thompson Baja boss at’s look promising. Can anybody tell me if the 275/60 will fit without a level and and real world reviews on these tires (particularly road noise)? It shows that they measure at a 33.4 which is a little bigger than other 275/60s. Pics also appreciated

This is more of a general question rather than specific to these trucks. But my 2020 TrailBoss came with LT275/65 R18 GoodYear DuraTrac tires. I'm considering going to some Bridgestone Dueler Revo AT/3 tires. Costco has the LT rated tires for about $20 more per tire than the P-metric tires. My truck is my daily driver, grocery-getter, school bus, and maybe once a month, I go offroad to my mountain cabin. The most I haul is a couple kayaks to the lake every now and then and occasionally yard waste to the city dump. So considering 99.9% of my driving is in the city/highway and I don't tow anything, would it still make sense to go with the LT tires?

I've been a big fan of Michelin tires in the past but the LTX A/T's that are on my 2020 2500HD are a bit disappointing.  I've done some towing with a 8k pound trailer, a bunch of highway, and the rest of local driving and at 28,000 miles, these tires are looking that they need to be replaced.
Can you suggest a mostly highway tire that can get me 40,000 miles??  I'm looking for an all season tire that is acceptable in snow, but that's not my major concern.  I'm running the stock 275-70-18's

      Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know of a kit that will let me lift my truck WITHOUT leveling it? I mostly drive down the highway so I'm not interested in levelling the truck and sending my MPG down the gutter even worse than it already is (I average 16-17 with stock suspension, 275/55/R20 Cooper Discoverer SRX, KN washable engine air filter) but when I go hunting I will sometimes need to cross fallen trees or go over shrubbery that loves to get caught up in the undercarriage. I'm trying to leave the stock rake on the truck but gain an additional inch or two clearance. All the kits I see for lifting the truck also level it. Am I going to have to do the math myself and grab X front suspension kit and Y rear block kit so that both raise approximately the same distance?

Also, if I'm able to get an extra inch of height I wonder what size tire I'd be able to fit then. I like the BFG K02s but wonder if I'd be able to squeeze the 275/65s to fit without cutting or even the 285/65s (only difference between the two is an additional 1/2 inch in diameter).
