I just came from Japan so...

1998 Toyota Progres.

A real nice luxury car made for only a few years to compete with Mercedes and BMW. Beautiful wood grain and leather interior and baby soft leather seats. Had a really nice V6 and lots of power. I would have brought it back to the states with me if it wasn't for the ridiculous laws. Absolutely loved that car, and I am totally not a sedan guy.

Been driving compact cars for years to save on gas. Most recent was a 2012 Mazda 3 SkyActiv hatch but sold it and purchased my first full size truck, my current 2012 Sierra crew cab (bought used a few months ago). My new opinion of compact cars (or anything smaller than my truck) is, they suck! I'm a truck guy from now on.

Damn- great minds think alike!!! I've noticed there's a few guys rocking C5Z's that have GM trucks!! I loved the speedway white but partial to the 03/04's because of other enhancements (not just the power bump in 02)- @ the end of the day though they rarely stay stock for long so maybe color choice is the way to shop me!

I loved that car! It was my fifth vette ranging from 69-07, but the c5 Z06 is my favorite of all vettes. That picture was the night before I traded both of them for my high country. The 07 silverado I bought brand new and had 42,000 miles on it. I actually had a harder time letting go of the truck since it was my daily driver.

My first was a 79, then a 96, then my 70, then an 02 Electron Blue Z06 that was my DD. It was traded for my Sierra. Then I had to have another so I got a Torch Red with Mod Red 02 Z06. I still have the 70, got it in 99 and it will not be going anywhere soon. Currently it has a 5 speed, rack and pinion steering, and is LS powered.

Here is my complete list since I was 16 years old. This is a Facebook album I made with descriptions so I just copied them over here, I don't expect you to know Steve or Tyler lol.

1 - 1985 Chevrolet S10 Tahoe w/ 2.8 V6
Extended cab standard bed 4x4
Acquired 2001 - My first vehicle ever when I turned 16. It was an old company truck that we took home for free. It barely ran, the floor had holes rusted in it, neither seat moved, but I still put a sub/amp/radio and rocked it. I was 16 and the world was mine. POS didn't last long though.

FzBZA1Em.jpg

2 - 1992 Ford Ranger w/ 2.3 I4
Reg cab standard bed
Acquired 2002 - After the S10 engine blew up on the highway and threw a rod through the hood, I got this truck from Uncle Todd for free. He had paid some guy $250 to drop it off for scrap. I put in a battery, alternator, and serpentine belt and drove it for about a year problem free before I wrecked it. Gave it back to Todd for the scrap.

oeNUD1rm.jpg

3 - 1979 Ford Thunderbird w/ 351 Windsor V8

Acquired 2003 - Got this for free from Grandpa Jackson. Steve and I tried to keep it running but it straight up died after a few months so we sent it to Todd for scrap. This massive luxury boat had the softest, cushiest cloth seats ever and power everything.

4 - 1998 Chevrolet S10 w/ 2.2 I4

Regular cab short bed
Acquired 2003 - After the T-bird died, I bought this from a dealership in Lansing for $3900. It only had 60k miles. Drove it through high school and until the transmission blew out ON MY WAY to Cherry Point, North Carolina to check in to my very first Marine Corps duty station.

5 - 2004 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4 w/ 5.3V8

Crew cab short box
Acquired 2006 - I was in Iraq in 2006 and found this on Autotrader.com from a local dealership in Michigan. I gave my mother some money and a power of attorney and she made the deal. The dealer really appreciated the military so he sold it at $100 over the auction price he paid. In 2004 this absolutely loaded truck was almost $50k brand new and in 2006 with only 31k miles and in absolutely flawless brand new condition I paid $21,400. Added some chrome and tires and tinted windows and drove until I traded it in late 2011 with 95k miles. In those over 5 years and 60k+ miles I replaced the brakes, a battery, and one O2 sensor that a mouse chewed through the wire.

6 - 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Hardtop, 405hp
Acquired 2007 - What more can I say about this car? The Z06 is the race model with weight savings and factory performance enhancements over the base models. I actually bought this car on eBay from Florida. I called the seller beforehand and spoke at length and had a good feeling. Over 4th of July weekend in 2007 I flew down to Florida, the seller picked me up from the airport, and I bought my Corvette and drove it back to North Carolina. Well I did have a several day layover partying in Myrtle Beach with Tyler and family. I paid about $28k and it had around 30k miles and was just flawless. I spent a few thousand on more performance mods and drove it like I stole it. No garage queen here. I put the car in a few ditches, trees, fields, and one time I put the trailer hitch of my truck through the hood. Ended up selling it to a dealership for $18k in late 2011 and it was worth every penny and every second of ownership.

7 - 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 750
Acquired 2007 - I never actually got a motorcycle license or rode it, but owned it for over a year...
(internet photo. not original)
lmjs7J4m.jpg
8 - 2007 Pontiac G6 w/ 2.4 I4
Acquired 2011 - This was actually the wife's car. Got a good price at a dealership in Detroit. Had to replace three wheel bearings which was a common issue on the G6. Sold it when I moved to Okinawa in 2012.

xnZ6wYpm.jpg
9 - 1998 Kawasaki Vulcan 750
Acquired 2011 - Finally got my license and rode this one a lot. My first real motorcycle. It was fun. Paid $1000, a year and a half later it barely ran and sold it for $500.

10 - 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD w/ 6.0 V8
Crew cab long bed 4x4
Acquired 2011 - Custom ordered this monster in late 2011. One of the first off the assembly line for 2012 models. Had a massive 11mpg 6.0 V8. Loved this truck. Drove it for three months before I received orders overseas and sold it. Wasn't gonna keep a six month old truck in storage for three years. I lost a few thousand dollars but not too shabby as I was glad to get rid of it. Beast.
(actual photo)
EBkLerCm.jpg
11 - 2000 Chevrolet S10 w/ 2.2 I4
Extended cab standard bed
Acquired 2012 - Grabbed this from a local dealership for $2900 to drive for a few months before I went overseas to Okinawa. Not a bad truck, it went from Point A to Point B. Sold it to my little brother Joshua for $5.

12 - 1998 Toyota Progres w/ 3.0 V6
Limited edition luxury car
Acquired 2012 - This was my car in Okinawa. It was a limited production run of only a few years, made to compete with BMW and Mercedes Benz in the late 90s. Loved this car. SOFT Leather seats, wood grain dash, super powerful V6, the works. I would have brought it back to the USA if I could.

13 - 2003 Mazda MPV minivan w/ 2.3 I4

Acquired 2012 - Hated this piece of crap. The four banger could barely power the van. No maintenance issues or anything else, but minivans are just gay and it wasn't my luxury car! Hauled a LOT of stuff and fit everything in the back with two car seats. Super practical and stupid.
(actual photo)

Gny5ezim.jpg

14 - 1997 Honda Steed 750

Acquired 2013 - This was a great little bike to cruise Okinawa. Paid $3100 in 2013 and sold it in 2015 for $3000. Awesome for cruising the island and more powerful than most of the stupid Jap cars with lawn mower engines.

iykLVufm.jpg

15 - 2015 GMC Sierra Denali 4x4 w/ 6.2l V8

Crew cab standard box
Acquired 2015 - I can't say enough about this awesome truck. Custom ordered it while I was still in Japan and it was waiting the day after I got home. The ultimate blend of luxury and power. The 6.2l V8 is straight out of the Corvette and makes 420hp and 460lb-ft of torque. Has pretty much every option you can get. I tinted the windows at 5% all the way around and added a Borla exhaust. MSRP was $58,040 from GM and with incentives and employee discount I ended up paying $47,233 (+TTL) which is a 19% discount. I am pretty proud of that one.

16 - 2015 Chevrolet Malibu 2LT w/ 2.5 4-cylinder

Acquired 2015 - Bought this for the wife. Saved a lot of money in Okinawa just to buy nice cars when I got home. She wanted cloth seats (yuck). Has touchscreen nav. Tinted the rear windows. MSRP was $28,040 from GM and I originally paid $22,128 which is a 21% discount. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE! About two months later the dealership called and said they "found an extra $1000 on the car" and mailed me a check. So that makes it $21,128 or a whopping 25% off. I will take that any day.

17 - High Mobility Multi Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) Don't know the year but it had a turbo diesel engine, I think 6.0 or 6.6. Ok, so maybe I didn't own it but this was my ride for a solid 7 months in Iraq in 2006. I couldn't help but include it.

My 2002 Z06 was a beast. Soon as I pay off these two new cars, I am getting back in one. I don't care for the C7 and I already had a C5, so pretty sure I am going with a C6 GS vert.

I had 2 pos 2014 Honda crvs.one was a dealer buy back. Both had the infamous vtc cold start rattle Honda said there's "no fix". Good riddance! I've also had ford trucks in the past, and they were solid, but my first two full size were 88 and 89 Silverados, so I've come back to my roots with my 15. So far i love it.

Honestly, i don't feel honda and toyota have the quality advantage they once had in the 90s. I feel that ford and Chevrolet are just as good now. All have pros and cons.
