Hey y'all new member and starting this forum to get some answers and give some answers about my family's vehicles. i am ASE certified but i still dont know everything lol. anyway my first problem is my dads 2008 Chevy silverado 2500HD 6.6L duramax diesel. the flange welded onto the muffler that connects it to the back of the muffler to the tailpipe rusted and the flange broke off. the issue is that right under the Z-71 logo there is the word MAXX. unsure if this is a package or whatnot but i cannot find anything on this MAXX package. anyway the truck has a 5 inch exhaust with a 6 inch tip. the stock exhaust on the duramax trucks that year was 4 inch. i do know that the exhaut was installed in the factory. i cannot find anything on this package, let alone the exhaust parts. i figure MAXX is a package as it has 1 ton suspension and frame, Reese hitch is half an inch bigger than a normal one, and it has the LTZ package. if anyone could help or has heard anything about this MAXX package, it would be greatly appreciated!

the MAXX and 5in exhaust sounds like a dealer installed package. MBRP makes a decient exhaust system for diesel pickups, im sure there are others also but i dont have any experience with others on a diesel. Whatever you do get stainless steel, it'll cost a little more now but wont rust through as easily as cheaper pipes.

thanks chris, the maxx is part of the z-71 sticker, came from factory. the site wont let me upload a pic. the exhaust is stainless but the weld was not. i believe it is a dyno, i will look tomorrow and check.

i mentioned MBRP cause in my experience they way it clamps together work well and doesnt need to be welded so it would be less likely to rust like yours did. But if there is enough pipe left where it rotted off you can just get a replacement pipe from somewhere and clean up the end and slip it over and clamp or reweld it back. I also live down south so rust is rare around here lol

As far as the MAXX part, pretty sure nothing is really different from any other gm truck of the same year,, maybe some pretties here and there.
