Fixes and tricks to deal with those annoyances

I installed Driver Assist handle GM part # 23285090. It is a simple, inexpensive, good looking and useful modification. If you decide to buy and install yourself be sure to read rewillia's post on http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/158271-interior-driver-assist-handle/page-14 . If you are like me and like to use a torque wrench because you have a tendency to overtighten things, 5-7 ft lbs is tight enough for the two mounting bolts. On first install I misread a table online and torqued the bolts to 11 ft lbs. I get bugged by such mistakes so I took it apart and used new Loctite and re-torqued. There were no issues as a result of the higher torque, but I feel better for re-doing the install. You will find this part on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-GM-Molding-Pkg-Part/dp/B00TA7UUM2 but I was able to get in one day from dealership for close to the same price.

:smash: While driving my key fob kept hitting the steering column making an annoying banging sound. Got a piece of black 3m velcro and cut it to fit right below the ignition switch covering the area where the key fob can reach. No more banging. :smash::chevy:

I've looked, but have been unsuccessful in locating a FOB "holder". I used to have a leather sleeve that was made for it. Buttons and everything was still accessible without removing the FOB from the case.

I used a piece of an old mouse pad, it has a certain amount of cushioning effect.

If you get a piece of velcro, I got at home depot 2" wide and use the soft piece. I already has sticky side. Just cut it to fit like the above mouse pad. :smash::chevy:

Even with the rubber key fob case my keys still hit it and make noise but the rubber case protects the key fob . Don't know how many times I have dropped my keys!

I got told by my service advisor that the chime volume is normal.

Also the rumble I feel while idling in gear is normal and to get used to it.

My dealer said the same about the chime and I asked the service advisor to double check her service bulletins. She found it and the issue has since been repaired. The loud tone cannot be accepted as normal! I would also say these trucks are not designed to rumble, rattle or shake at idle. My last three gm trucks, all different displacement motors, were smooth and quiet at idle. If your dealership is not willing to work for you try another dealership! They are not all the same and will all do warranty work.

Will a Chevy dealership do warranty work on a GMC?

I'd prefer to go to my Chevy dealer I take my wife's Traverse to. The only reason I got the GMC in the first place was because it was a better deal at the time than what my Chevy dealer had.
